It's all do to with the acoustics of the ground being akin to a wind tunnel remember  Pint

How different we have looked at home against FGR and Barrow.
Both teams not coming with a tight “two banks of four.” Looked more like away performances where we’ve been able to move the ball into areas and exploit the width much better.

Found out an interesting fact yesterday that I couldn’t believe.
Apparently we have the 3rd smallest pitch in league two !!! Evidently we want to increase the size.
Historically if memory serves we used to have one of the biggest.

I think that’s right - in the build up to the LC final in 1969  I remember reading that our pitc( was bigger than Wembley.

Poor finishing meant that in the end we made hard work of it yesterday - should have been comfortably ahead by half time. Some of the players looked tired by the end - impact of Tuesday (mentally as well as physically) I suppose.
I think those blaming Ward for the goal are being a bit harsh - we can’t defend those free kicks properly (very similar goal conceded to Sutton and Orient among others) and gave their man a free header on the six yard line. More a collective failure for me than Ward alone. Having said that I agree with those who said Wolacott’s kicking is better - Ward still isn’t comfortable with the ball at his feet, although he has improved a bit since before Christmas.

Glad Walsall is not a “dead rubber” - hopefully an enjoyable day.

As well as the roll call of honour, I thought the gesture of having the group of long standing supporters as mascots was a brilliant idea / gesture from the club. One of them started going to games in 1946.
Well done to whoever came up with that idea.

There seems to be a buzz when Clem is over doesn't there so I think the club needs to think of ways to keep it going when he is not.

On the roll call of honour, it can't be much of a chore to flash the names up on the scoreboard for a few seconds, could it? I know its a pretty basic one.
