I enjoyed that, they tried to play in a similar way to the first team, and should be commended, considering some were playing out of position and others were inexperienced. They worked well for each other.

Pleased there were no injuries, so its all pretty good.

For the goal, when you’re watching live all you remember is the goal itself. Only upon watching the replay do you appreciate the fantastic bit of skill, couple of great passes that led up to it.

I do hope this group achieve something tangible this season.

I usually boycott these games, but out of sheer fascination I decided to tune in. The line-up reminded me of being at school a little where you would just put people in random positions; 'Scott, you are wearing Cat Boots, so you go Centre back' etc etc. Parsons and Dabre at Wing Back and 2 youth players at CB along with Rob Hunt doesn't scream clean sheet but to be fair, it got one!

Ignoring the quality of the game, I really enjoyed it. Both teams looked to pass out from the back but we looked to have more energy and press better than them. I thought Minturn and Winchombe to make first team debuts against some decent experienced lower league forwards did brilliantly, and not afraid to bring the ball out from the back either. Sure positionally at times not great, but neither are the first team CBs when the ball is fired into our box. I've said my piece on Dabre on the Man of the Match thread and someone I think hit the nail on the head on this thread but what is he? He certainly is not a Left Wing Back for certain! It was hilarious when he would see the Newport player in acres of space on the right wing, and then remember he was supposed to be there, and then sprint back into position. To his credit, the guy worked his socks off.

Not too much you can draw from that, JML is clearly not a Simpson replacement and does look raw. McKirdy remains a walking yellow card but you can see at times he has huge ability but does play on the edge. Good to give Lyden 90 and East looked assured too. Gilbert showed glimpses but I think his body language showed that his heart wasn't really in it.

We go into the hat, or on a playing card, or in a pizza box or whatever gimmick they use to draw this thing.

Another £10k in the bank and fringe player progress continues.

Draw is on Saturday after the lunchtime game on Sky Sports I think.
With 2 southern groups yet to be decided, Ipswich, Portsmouth, Franchise, Charlton & Stevenage are all quaking in their boots.
£20k for the 2nd round winners.

Four of the U21 sides have qualified so far as it stands.

£50,000 banked already! Chuck in the £22,000 for the FA Cup win and Slime Ball Power must be gnashing his teeth to have missed out on any cup money throughout his dynasty!

Nice for Clem to start getting some return.

£65k we’ve earned from this so far, very much needed I imagine. We also got £22k for winning in the FA Cup first round. All adds up.

Edit - Great minds Aud.

Think this is the prize pot -

The breakdown of prize money in the Papa John’s Trophy is below.

Each EFL club will receive a participation fee of £20,000 in addition to any prize money won throughout the competition:

· Group Stage - £10,000 for a win, £5,000 for a draw

· Round Two - £20,000 for a win

· Round Three - £40,000 for a win

· Quarter Final - £50,000 for a win

· Runner-up - £50,000

· Winner - £100,000
