Four wins away from Wembley. Definitely in the minority but wouldn't mind us winning the thing!

Our fringe players have given a good account of themselves which can only be positive - also nice to see us win at home.

I'm with you...I like winning

Seeing as we only had 1 player from the 11 that beat Crewe that wasn’t a bad performance. The 2 young CBs did fine. Got caught out of position at times - as did the WBs - and there were some huge gaps for Newport to exploit but weren’t good enough to profit from it.

Got to mention the sheer work rate of Dabre, though. Sure, he loses possession too often, but he’s not a WB. Good to see Lyden get through 90 minutes without a leg falling off or somesuch.

East wouldn’t let us down when he’s called upon to start.

Weird game, really.

Scott Lindsey runs the team in the Papa Johns matches
He does, but, it was a 1st team fixture so counts as a win for Garner.

Why does he do them? Makes no sense to me?

Oh, that's Wynn-Davis? Wow. I had it in mind he was still early teens. Probably a good thing Paul's on a TEF break or we'd never hear the last of it.

I read that as ‘ Good to see Lyden get through 90 minutes without a leg falling or his stomach’.

Scott Marshall:
- Pleased with the result tonight and in this competition
- Young boys came in who haven't played in the league
- Showed they were hungry, competitive and fit
- Winchcombe & Minturn: Good competition to give them a chance
- Have included them in training when the opportunity has presented itself
- Did well today in first senior experience
- Could help them in the future
- Lads performed well and training well. Wouldn't single anyone out. The group drives each other on
- You can a lot of similarity between the way the team played tonight and in the league
- Parsons and Dabre at wingback: Two young guys learning the game. Playing a different position always helps you. They are out there performing and learning a different area of the pitch. In the future they may understand team mates better
- Lyden: Where is he in the pecking order? Marshall wouldn't answer. Just said he has had minutes under his belt
- Don't think players are putting pressure on others. They are being competitive and showing professionalism and competitiveness
- Baudry: Discussions today, but not sure as was focussing on tonight's game
- Opportunity to have a rest over the weekend. We've had a good block of work up to this point. Worked hard this morning, have one more session  before the weekend.
- Catch a breath and then get ready to go again against Newport
- This game won't be the same as the next one against Newport.
- Walsall in the Cup? Great, but we have games before that to look at first.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed that !

I think for a team of youngsters they did very well. There was some pretty slick passing at times, and some great runs off the ball. We were very exposed on the wings, which Newport took advantage of, but didn't make as much of it as they should've. But what do you expect when we were playing 2 attackers as wing backs. Dabre was caught out of position so often, but I must admit I admired his terrier-like response of not being afraid to get stuck into some much bigger opponents, and he is so fast !

The 2 youth team defenders making their debuts kept a clean sheet, although they were caught out of position at times, they made up for it with their athleticism and enthusiasm !

You've just got to love watching McKirdy, he's such a livewire, full of running and skill on the ball and it's fun to watch him winding up himself, his opponents and the match officials !

It was good to see Lyden get some much needed minutes into his legs, and I thought East looked well capable of covering for the first team if required. Mitchell - Lawson gets into some very good positions and is very quick, but he really does need to improve on his finishing if he's going to fulfil his potential.

A home win at last, a clean sheet and no injuries - all in all quite a good night !

Ellison responds by saying ‘who you trying to get off you little gobshite’

Well seeing as McKirdy won’t be facing Newport week Saturday he can afford too 😁
