I wouldn’t be wholly suprised if Nationwide were relieved to end the sponsorship either

I don’t think we have benefited much from Nationwide’s sponsorship for years. If Nationwide employees only attend games because cheap tickets they’re probably not proper supporters anyway OR nationwide don’t pay their employees enough.

I am sure this sort of comment is what gets bounded about within the walls of the CG. The part that is missing is that a business logo like Nationwide adds credibility to any other conversation that the commercial team are having. Companies look into these sorts of things when making decisions. To progress as a club we need to be trying to onboard companies like Nationwide, not slapping ourselves on the back when we stop a few employees having cheaper tickets. Small mind mentality!

Attendance numbers also produce opportunities for Commercial revenue through Sponsorship and, more specifically, perimeter advertising. Or even on the 28inch TV we are buying.

Quite... There is a transient population in Swindon and there are also people who... whisper it quietly... aren't that interested in STFC or football, but might just fancy a night out. Marketing is anaethema to them .

Agreed. That was the Fitton approach for awhile when we had the likes of Samsung, Fifa Games & FourFourTwo magazine.

I was a season ticket holder for over 15 years, I've been to a few games the past few years on the nationwide discount. I won't be paying full price so now they'll get nothing. Sorry I'm not a super fan like you though. Fucking prat.

Do Nationwide still sponsor Northampton Town in any way? That used to be the case in the original 90s shirt sponsorship as Northampton was another big NW office.
Big companies often change direction on sponsorship for multiple reasons like changes in target markets or brand messaging.

Yes, it could be a change in Nationwide strategy nothing to do with the club. Yes the club may have put the squeeze on, and think they can get more cash going elsewhere. But the "wrong type of fans" comment really pisses me off.

Or in Kennedy’s case before the end!
I haven’t bought anything from the shop in ages now.
Have they got Clem toilet paper in stock?
Clem branded bog rolls being thrown onto the pitch….now there’s a thought and good advertising for the clown🤣
