Tans Was discussing the situation that Reading have found themselves in with their present owner and we tried to compare him with Morfuni Suggest we didn't have the whole picture on either...but my mate simply mentioned are all EFL owners on the take in one way or another ? As for Ian Holloway comments, he is in fact correct that stay away fans will have a negative impact on next year's playing budget I'm sure. Just a sad position the whole club has found itself in, when results are looking so much better.COYRs

I agree with Holloway. When have we ever had perfect owners? Jeez when we were relegated by the FA for dodgy dealings the fans didn’t stay away - they got out on the streets and protested against the harsh fa punishments- we then made it to the premier league. Have some hope people.
People have been broken down by X amount of years under the previous ownership followed up by 3/4 years of similar fortunes under the new ownership after a brief moment where we mostly believed we were back. I don’t begrudge anyone who wants to stay away after that. IH knew the state of play with the dwindling attendances when he signed a new contract. Pointing fingers at it now doesn’t achieve much.

He’s not pointing fingers, he’s stating the obvious, which he has done all along. If you can’t support the team, especially under a manager like Holloway what’s the point?

May be an alien concept but people can still support the team without going to games

Yeah, you’re right. Let’s turn a blind eye to sheer incompetency because we’ve never had perfect owners. Good one

Yes. Less people attending = less money in the budget. Everyone’s aware of that. People aren’t staying away for the fun of it, there’s plenty of people I know staying away who are extremely unhappy at having to do so and plenty that have just lost interest. Either way it’s the same result. We’ve known this for months. Talking about how much bigger the budget would be if people who are staying away for a reason under this ownership come back is as fanciful as talking about how much bigger the budget would be if the club was owned by a billionaire imo.

Do you honestly think even with 10k crowds we'd get a bigger budget? Even when we got bigger crowds after Morfuni took over the cost cutting started.

We had a bottom third budget in the year we were getting 9/10k regularly through the door. Sandro confirmed it in the deleted moorsehead article

Absolute bollocks. They have lied and lied and continuously contradicted themselves. They have bullshitted to local businesses and fucked them around constantly. Even as recent as last month they thought they could bullshit about the wives having pre emption rights. We had crowds of nearly 10k and still had a low budget. Holloway himself has flip flopped about his budget and is now resorting to calling out the fans As a fan who has not been for a while and absolutely hates the fact i can't go it's actually insulting Why on earth should i spend my money knowing full well the squad will not be invested on properly and Kiely, Hart Aistin and fuck knows who else will still be getting a tidy sum from it

New, credible owners + Holloway next season = 10k crowds as we had under Garner.

7,000 home fans for what has been, mostly, shite football is pretty good, I reckon.
I’ve gone from being an avid - not rabid - fan, to a meh one has probably been replicated by many others.
What the owners have done, essentially, is extinguish hope. I can/have coped with purely poor seasons before, but this lot . . .

We've got 7000 fans turning out week in week out. Pretty reasonable. Look on townenders, it's not at a low by any stretch. You can only keep the "extras" coming for so long without delivering. Going to need to perform in order to get them back. This season has been another failure barring a miracle, why would fairweathers turn up with almost zero chance of promotion?

While you raise a couple of good points, the reduction in crowds isn't entirely down to Clem/Issues at the top. It is mainly down to the shit football we have seen for the previous few years. What manager isn't going to call for higher attendances for several reasons including better atmosphere, increasing the budget.

Perhaps he needs to be pointed in the direction of clubs that get half our gates but get a bigger budget This.
