I hate how much I don't want to go anymore . Sat here deciding if I watch on the stick or go and watch Devizes v Slimbridge in the cup.
Hard to explain it but even watching the games I don't get angry or delighted either way but still show an interest in the games
Perfectly summed up how I am. More excited about the Military event @ The Swindon & Cricklade Railway instead. Wasn’t to long ago and it wouldn’t have even been a thought.

Now Couhig has pulled out of the Reading deal - can we temp him to buy out Clem & Co if he wants to buy a football club
Who is Gouhig? Did he seem like a decent option for them?

I'm sort of surprised more people don't feel that way - there's no upwards momentum to drag people along, and (maybe nobody else cares about this?) the squad is just a bunch of journeymen now, there's not a core of local guys or long term club servants to love. Who in this team do we sing the name of, really?
That one is just the nature of lower league football, but it's a problem for me at least. If I look at cricket, which I'm probably more emotionally invested in now, my side fielded eight academy developed players out of 11 in the most recent game. That's pretty normal in most sports outside of football still. Swindon haven't had a local lad have any real impact since the Thompson not-twins.
What is there to support now? It's a transient bunch of random lower league players who'll be moved on in six months whether they succeed or not, filling a shirt that changes every year, owned by people who are at best out of touch. It's Trigger's Broom with an STFC badge on it.
I still like football as a sport, but I'm finding it hard to care as much as I would have done about the result. Maybe we're just old now, and other things matter more.
Local lads are a plus but it isn't a factor for me. I've put up with some total dog shit squads and awful performances and still turned out. Its Clem, Hall, Hart, Austin and whoever else is lurking in the shadows. Its all them.

Looks like also been interested in Yeovil at a time and used to Wycombe.
Sort of person the trust should be working at somehow getting contact information for I think.
Clem will bury his head in the sand and pretend nobody is interested unless someone goes public with their interest.

It's not *just* local lads, it's like... length of service I guess? I just can't be attached to anyone in this squad when staying at the club 12 months is genuinely above average now. Plenty of non-locals have been popular at the club - Parkin, Cox, Luongo - but what is there to love when the absolute best case scenario is a Eoin Doyle style golden four months before they go somewhere else? Obviously I'm not a CG regular nowadays, but is there anyone in the squad we chant the name of?

Yeah its wretched. Turnover is at an all time high and when we do get someone on a longer contract, they're fucking terrible and we all wish we didn't.

Is it the norm in lower league football, or is it Swindon?
Obviously Wrexham and the like can afford not to cash in until the time is right for them. But the rest of us?

I also think it’s the style of football now as well. It’s so rigid & systematic. I guess to somewhat aid the huge turnover of players & managers. There are no mavericks - hell I’d say this is probably one of the most boring, if not the most boring Town sides ever. There are no good players, there are no exciting players and even if there was - the formations & tactics would drill it out of them anyway. It’s happening throughout football. Aston Villa Jack Grealish Vs Man City Jack Grealish is probably the highest profile example. Fans will take to hard working players but it will always be the exciting players that get them off their feet - that inspire the fans to chant, sing & believe. Winning games always helps but even under Garner when we hadn’t quite got top gear yet there was still Payne & McKirdy who at least had that exciting factor that they might pick the ball up, drive forward & make something happen.

I wish this wasn't true. But sadly it is.

That my good fellow is an excellent post. The triggers broom comment is very pertinent.
