Maybe they could do a sponsorship deal with the airline...

Jersey and Guernsey both have rugby teams who play at national level so whilst travel is obviously a significant cost it appears to be doable...

Jersey had a team in the Rugby Championship and won it in 2022-23 but then went into liquidation in October 2023.

There is an amateur team which play in the 5th tier of English Rugby.

Accrington Stanley closing their Academy because
Quote
The board of directors blamed "significant financial challenges" facing the EFL club following "restrictions on the use of club facilities" and the "imposition of significant tax increases on jobs". It said this has resulted in "substantially raised costs for what is already a loss-making business".

To be fair, it must be very hard to run Accrington's academy, there are so many higher league clubs locally that will poach anyone half decent. We have a fair catchment area to work with.

I was speaking to someone in the game, ex-pro and Manager now running a club over here and looking to invest/seeking partnerships (guess why I spoke to him, and no, doesn't like the look of our ownership mess and price tag).  He mentioned how he thought lower league clubs will stop running youth programs in the near future because the top league teams have built youth factories.  He saw the future in the multi club model for those teams and lower league clubs taking the leftovers, which seems pretty much where we are headed.

Andy Holt really does love the attention, he's also throwing his toys about to anyone who will listen about the Council serving enforcement notices on them for various uses of the corporate suites etc at the ground threatening to take his ball home on a daily basis, I used to quite like the insights he gave, but have recent concluded that he is merely an attention seeking twat!

Yup, used to think I'd love to have open & honest owners like Holt & MacAnthony. But they're both utterly insufferable now.

All this "TIFO" bollocks. Since when is football about having a huge banner, flares etc. in the home end? Load of shite, continental nonsense.

Yeah, not really a fan. Looked good when we had massive flags on poles for a few big games but the authoritites get a bit shirty about that sometimes.

Dreadful refereeing decision and they are down to 10 men for half the game.

I thought it was absolutely the correct decision on both counts (but I wouldn't pretend to be neutral on the matter).
