When you’ve been there as many times as they have recently, you’d imagine the novelty wears off.

The semi finals should never be at Wembley anyway.

This.....although I did go to the Cup semi a few years ago when Villa beat Chelsea 1-0. There was over 89k there too.

The semi's should never ever be played at Wembley, it should be a ground with a 40k+ capacity roughly half way between the 2 teams geographically.

Dunno the distance, but I suspect Gateshead will be even further!

Gateshead is indeed 20 miles further each way.

Unless its changed I think you can fly to Newquay from Newcastle so imagine that will be an altogether more pleasant experience.

It'll be on Loganair though, so you'll need to remortgage...

Ironic that the pursuit of money has devalued the FA Cup.

Good shout, just checked and you can still fly from Newquay to Newcastle and the obvious first choice but can national league clubs afford the cost.

Maybe they could do a sponsorship deal with the airline...

Jersey and Guernsey both have rugby teams who play at national level so whilst travel is obviously a significant cost it appears to be doable...

Guernsey’s football team currently play in the Isthmian league (South Central) division (although they got relegated this season). As part of them being allowed into the football pyramid they have to pay for other teams to fly to the island. They were getting average crowds of 700 or so.
