Currently watching German series ''Dark'' {2017 ~ 2020}. Was meant to watch it during lockdown but it somehow escaped me.

If you like Mystery Thrillers, with a chunk of time travel element and a proper long format series element that actually forces you to sit, watch, pay attention and observe what is going on - then you'll enjoy it. It's beautifully shot, directed, relatively well written with, some consistently brilliant delivery from an ensemble cast who are every bit sinful as it is brutal and equally eerie. The whole series so far sets that eerie tone, where parts of it have made me feel uneasy/queasy.

It's a slow burner initially but I think this helps with understanding timelines and what is going on more easily {you still have to pay attention though}. Similar shorter formats might get to the point quicker but you still might be figuring out what is going on. Netflix rarely makes longer format series any more as the focus is/was on bashing out as much content as possible, so it's nice to have this afforded luxury of a three season run with ten plus episodes in each one. It's also not really something you can overly binge too quickly either, because you'll just miss stuff or not consider stuff so much. Stuff that might be important or key to what is going on like for eg ''Why not the Forest Road?''

All in all, mid way through S2 and it's a great nod to some brilliantly german produced work via Baran Bo Odar and Jante Friese. The same people who also created ''1899'' after this. Which I'll probably watch after but may somewhat be a let down - seeing as Dark is such a thoroughly good watch. Them Germans get everywhere recently  - Lazarus Project, Bodies, Those About To Die and so on

Do people still read books these days?

I’m into the latest Stephen Fry - Odyssey. Brilliantly written as usual. The Audible versions are fantastic - he’s got such a great voice.
