Anyone seen Power on netflix?

Fuck me, he get's everywhere.  What's he trying to do now, sell off all of the quality and fill it up with reruns of Friends and Only Fools and Horses?

I watch live TV through my BT Freeview recorder box, use the iPlayer, and watch live football on the BT Sport app on my PlayStation.

I hear about an increasing number of people who do not pay the tv license fee. Would my Internet service provider be able to help tv licensing know that I’m accessing live tv?

Can I cancel my direct debit? Most info says yes.

If I kindly gave my WiFi password to a neighbour I wouldn't know if they were watching live TV with it.

Expect them to threaten you with ridiculous demands of "WE suspect you are using TV services without having a licence" or something to that tune.

But if you actually inform them and say you will no longer be needing a licence this type of letter/email should stop. Remember that your TV licence only covers BBC programmes (TV, Online & Radio) and I think even iPlayer (recorded/catch up) isn't included in that. Basically anything else, you can watch and/or pay for like Prime/Disney+/Sky/Now etc.

It's only when you start using BBC services (catch up aside) that they can ask you to pay again. More than likely if you genuinely hardly ever use BBC services (maybe the odd occasion) then they may send a letter but unless you're taking the piss then they shouldn't bother you - life is complicated as it is for many people at the moment.

Regards WiFi sharing, well no you wouldn't know what thy were accessing necessarily but you would know when they are connected as most devices etc will give you the info/name of the device accessing your WiFi. In the cases of TV Licencing or similar having to check - I'm sure they can probably (especially via online/digital) know when a signal is going to one of their channels/servers etc and how frequently. This is a pure guess but I'd say there is possibly a threshold that (once breached) auto informs the "machines" which then tells the "humans" to 'nail the sneaky bastards'  Smiley

it's in the link bamboo

"You must be covered by a TV Licence to download or watch BBC programmes on BBC iPlayer – live, catch up or on demand. This applies to any device and provider you use."
