Applying for my first ever half marathon back in April and getting accepted for 23/10/2011 race in Birmingham.
Doing no training, going for a curry, 6 pints and getting to bed by 3am the night before. Turned up and beasted out a time of
1 hr, 47 mins and 12 secs.
I'm in tatters today mind.
A few years ago I was doing the Great North Run and for a while was running alongside Christopher Ecclestone (Dr Who at the time) who claimed the exact same previous evening on the town in Newcastle (6 pints, a curry and late night). Although I was pleased with my time of 1:29 I couldn't keep up with him and he finished 2 mins ahead of me. I've always been convinced there was at least an element of exageration in his story. |
