If you have to suffer X-Factor because the Mrs watches it, the Guardian's live blog makes good reading. Here is last weeks:

So she makes you suffer the X Factor on TV and then insists you read about it, in your own time, on the Guardian's website? Cheesy

I got to watch about 15 mins of this 3 or 4 weeks ago and it nearly made me cry, and mainly because everyone else was crying.  (Note to contestants: IT'S A FUCKING SINGING COMPETITION.  THAT'S IT!  SINGING.  NO ONE DIES, NO ONE GETS BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE.  JUST SINGING.  THAT'S ALL IT IS.)  Luckily enough, my other half wanted to watch The One Where They Do All the Dancing instead, so we turned over...which was just as well because there's only so much emotional diarrhoea that a man can take in one evening.

I think things must have reached a new low during the episode that I was watching when a serving member of the British Army started blubbing on camera...and not even because he'd got through or had been kicked off.  No - he hadn't even sung his song by that point.  He was crying - and I promise I'm not making this up - because his sister was proud of him.

Seriously, son, get a fucking grip.  Not the kind of squaddie you'd want along side you in the trenches, I'm guessing.

My missus hates reality TV as well. Just have to get her to like Football now and I think I have a keeper!

Acquiring these on vinyl and discovering Discogs now have a store. For all I know they could have had one for years, but it's just what I always dreamt of. Beers

Hearing a band on the radio that you haven't heard of before and instantly thinking "great" - in this case The Spartan Dreggs.
