Nope, in Vancouver. Going to give it a go
I went to the Colorado Rapids a few times and it was a good atmosphere. The Whitecaps got 29k on their opening day this year. Judge the atmosphere here when they needed a draw to get to the playoffs :

Or judge the standard against Wrexham in pre-season:

It was a great race. But it made me reminisce about how good Bolt was, watched his world records in the 1 and 2. What an enormous freak of nature that guy was. I don’t see his records being broken for decades

Bolt was a freak, but the general standard beyond him is higher now: four athletes didn't even qualify for the final with sub-10 second times in the semis, and it was the first time all athletes ran under 10 in the final at the olympics.

There's definitely a gap though, Lyles is a 200m runner really - as you saw from his start yesterday, think he was last at 70m. If he could sort his starts out he'd be a monster.

To your point, every finisher from 4th down was a world record time for that position

I'm looking forward to it regardless.

There is a big drop off from the first team to the second string in MLS, which is what Vancouver put out second half I believe (given they wedged this in between existing games).  Vancouver are not the strongest either.  LAFC are probably Championship level I would imagine, with a sprinkling of PL quality but also a few L1 in the squad.  MLS has this weird range of quality in each squad, but their overall salary spends are upper Championship level now.

Mrs B had given the ok to Vancouver Whitecaps v LAFC.

Debating it internally, would be a long day what with the whale watching..

Didn't even know LA had two MLS sides to be honest. FC have signed Giroud and Lloris.

Probably will go.

When you are at the stadium go & check out the Terry Fox statue, if you know the story it's quite emotional

There's a great documentary by ESPN (one of the 30 from 30 series I think) that documented the journey that's worth a watch .

If you are looking for other stuff to do in Vancouver, then Grouse Mountain (via the Cable Car) is worth a visit, Granville Island is nice to wander round (there's water taxis that take you across) and if you like that sort of thing Fly Over Canada is good too.
We didn't so the Harbour flight, but apparently that was quite good too.

We drove round stanley park (parking up a few times), rather than hire bikes & cycle, I guess it depends on how energetic you are feeling.

Cheers Posh,

We've only got 4 nights there so the plan is:
  - Get there, bit of the McArthur Glen outlet (seriously), then to air B&B. Might pop downtown.
  - Meet relatives/Granville Island
  - Whale watching/Footy
  - Some suspension bridge thing (googled: Capilano Suspension Bridge)
  - Not sure yet, 8pm flight to Winnipeg

Not planning on a car tbh

There used to be lots of bus tours around the city. Couple of hours and see everything.

Yeah. Good plan

Might seem like common sense/obvious, but we tend to do the bus trip first and then you can work out specific items you want to see along the way. If you get a 48 hour ticket you can then use the bus on the second day to get you to and from the areas you want to see.
