Things that mildly annoy me: The LSPOD sneering about Brewitt. Love the pod and it is a massive part of my STFC 'week' but their lofty cognoscenti attitude is getting silly. The guy could score a perfect hattrick and they'd still have a pop and call him "limited". Interesting to see the TE Forum MOTM vote and social media comments vs their view. Appreciate everyone sees things differently!

Of all the things to happen this season, I'm not sure Tom Brewitt: Culture War was the one I saw coming.

Haha. Indeed. This is filed under 'don't understand/mildly annoy' rather than anything stronger!

Just think they slightly sneer at fans who like him because they imagine that those fans don't understand the gegenpresse tactics of the current U23 coach at RB Leipzig like they do or some such moustache twiddling shite.

I suppose his name is basically Tom Brexit so should have seen that coming.

I did mention this in the MoM Thread for Crewe, but I kinda get why he's polarising in that I think he's very good at the obvious stuff and quite suspect on the more shape and structure stuff, but he's definitely been significantly better start of this season than he was at the end of last.

I suspect its more that Brewitt has been chosen by many as designated scapegoat within the fan base this season, we have one every year generally entirely independent of performances.

Some of us more cultured types  Cheesy noted at the start of pre-season that he shouldn't be written off until he played with a full pre-season in him with a manager who had a fecking clue and hey presto!

As with everyone else at this level, if he was a complete CB who could do it all he would not be playing remotely near this level.

Tom Brewitt: Get defending done. Oven ready defending. Etc.

I do see why he has been polarising but when he has an obviously good game, it is okay to say that.

Hopefully our shape/structure improves as our back three play more together and someone in midfield (and the wingbacks...) decides to join the effort for once.

Brewitt had a couple of absolute shockers end of last season but fucking hell, everybody did. Can't hold it against him and not others.

That's fair enough. It's 75% a bit though stemming from last season. It's not a hill I'm prepared to die on and will dial it back.

He's been fine this season and, as a fan, I have a cynical resistance for players like Brewitt who get plaudits for the basics when people like FBT do it far more comfortably. This is on me, it's clear that my take isn't shared by all.

In recent history this is exactly what happened with Sendles-White and Broadbent during their Town careers and they didn't last long in the EFL post-Swindon... Because although plucky and hard workers, they were limited.

It goes without saying that I want Brewitt to be great and hope he continues to improve.

Love the use of 'lofty cognoscenti' though.

I haven't got the faintest idea what 'lofty cognoscenti' actually means. Is it a pasta dish eaten at altitude?

Lofty Cognoscenti was a staple of the 1920s New York jazz scene, a dab hand on the trombone and a bit of a ladies man - but with a few dubious links to the mob.

Fair enough! Cheers Rich and keep up the good work on the pod. As I say it is a staple of my week. Post game reviews on the train to work, pressers on the way to the game!

Was trialling the like 'functionality' for that comment. But it looked silly without any content so here is some content.

Remember when we had user karma on here for a few months and binned it off because 99% of users were in massive negatives and getting mad about it?
