tis the way of the industry + bad luck

#1 office closed down
#2 down to last 3 in role
#3 team function moved to India
#4 initially made redundant due to lack of funding, rescinded
#5 survived
#6 project closed down, moved to another project
#7 Huh? , can't talk about reasons but not anything I've done!

BO. it's been a long 45 days and a sleepless night last night. Yes it's a relief

that said, I am in a fortunate position should the worst happen in the future. we aren't going to starve within 3 months, etc.

it's those that don't have a number of years service, and a big mortgage that I feel for.

thankfully of the 3 in my team that I know won't be here (due to selection pool) 2 found a new job in 2 weeks, the other one is deep into interview. They are all young and it's made me very happy they are looking like being sorted

That's really great to read Batch that yourself and the others involved aren't going to (hopefully) be negatively impacted, a good news story for sure!

Good stuff, having had the redundancy sword over my head a fair few times it pretty shitty, only happened once and then my employer didn't actually have the decency to even tell me as I was on holiday, took my girlfriend (now wife) to ring me to tell me that we had all been made redundant!

Have you thought about redundancy insurance if it looks like it may happen in the future, mate of mine has been made redundant loads of times (he works in HR/training and thus they are always the first to go if any company contracts the workforce) and has actually done quite well on negotiating payouts from companies and then getting the insurance to cover until he gets another job?

What do you do just out of interest, realise I don't know what most people do oin here and kind of assume that everyone office based works in IT?  Cheesy
