So Swindon's the only place you've been that doesn't fall for wanky marketing gimmicks? Good.

I think Guinness is vile but as a regular visitor to Ireland I've never seen it poured in one go there. These are often small traditional pubs where gimmicks offer nothing.

Only place I've seen it poured in one go was at the bakers arms in the railway village where the Irish fella I was with took one swig and wouldn't drink the rest of it.

Fucking this. If you ever say the words 'and a Guinness' you don't deserve to go to pubs. If it's because you're ordering a round and someone's turned up, well they don't fucking deserve their drink because they are late to the round.

Also, if you aren't a regular at the place and don't know anyone who is, don't loiter at the bar and take up space. Go stand elsewhere. Barmen don't appreciate having to shout over the top of other people. This isn't christmas for pub staff. It's hell.

Ah, the friendly welcome at a traditional pub. No wonder the places are closing at such a rapid rate.

I'm sure most publicans view casual customers as welcome additional revenue more than an annoyance or inconvenience. And if bar staff can't cope with a few more punters, they should reconsider their choice of employment.

Agreed. As a regular visitor to the Emerald Isle I think it's so much nicer and creamier over there.

It is vile if poured in one go, that's not a marketing gimmick, it's just fact.

Stout, or porter black originates in England. Guinness is okay.

Evil. Bottled evil. Last night it made me very weird (yeah ok, I'm pretty weird anyway, I know)

Interesting, it seems due to the change of caskets ages ago the 2 pour system isn't necessary.

I love Guinness, next time I order one I'm gonna ask them to pour it in one go to see what it's like.

I'd doubt it would make much difference having gone across the sea to America where that article is from. Guinness does not travel well apparently.
Even the short trip across the Irish sea to the UK so I'm told doesn't do it any favours.

It goes off quickly as well. Quite often a new pub will open up out here selling Guinness, only to stop buying it after a while because it goes off before they can sell enough of it.

Im pretty sure someone entered my car in the night. I won't say broke in becuase i can't be 100% sure i locked it.

I get in this morning and the glove box is open, the passenger seat is moved right back, there is a funny smell like stale smoke and when i switch the engine on the ignition it told me the passenger door was open.
The only thing of value is my ipod in there which was still there, but the most stange thing was i have 2 iphone cables, one for my phone and one for the ipod. These cables had been swapped over.

I think i might be going crazy.

I think the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. And I think I left it unlocked, I remember I was distracted getting out the car because the Mrs hadn't brought the fricken bin up despite not working the entire day.

With me my HRM watch/monitor and sunglasses were gone. The watch was in a sports bag - but the bag was still there which I found odd - as was the satnav (central console) and a few other car electricals. If they had enough time not to just grab the bag and run, why didn't they search the car properly?

either way - try not to leave it unlocked..

Many years ago, when I was a student, living on the South Coast, I set off for the Solstice at Stonehenge, after a bit of a session, accompanied by a fella who was an artist, so a bit unpredicatable.

No motorways then, and we were on the outskirts of Soton when he said he wanted to get out... when I saw him days later, he told me he'd found an unlocked car on a drive, kipped in it, and then got a train back in the morning. Maybe it was him.

I had just been shopping so i had my kid in one hand and shopping in the other so it very possible i did leave it unlocked.
I just find it strange that nothing was taken, they obviously had a good rummage. I tend not to leave much in the car but there was a pushchair and a decent child seat which would fetch a few bob.

Im puting it down to someone have a few too many and wanted a place to kip.

My car got done the same way a few years ago, again as a result of being left unlocked. I make it habit now to just blip the button on the remote as I'm locking the house up before going to bed.
