And whilst I loathe other people's children as much as anyone, presuming you'll be able to go somewhere and there be no kids about is a little bit over-hopeful.

There are resorts/hotels that don't allow kids. Other people annoy me as much as children do.

I sympathise with others especially when the resort offers no adult only pools and the like.

It's all about minimising the risk.

What you cant account for is the kids of Greek hotel staff who seem to finish school about 12 everyday and then loudly  fuck about by the pool until their parents finish, when all you want is to lie in the sun sleeping off the hangover.

Yes im still bitter from last summer

And of course you can't take the kids out of school because of Michael Fucking Gove.

Makes you wonder if he's got his hand in the pot of a travel company or five.

Yeah terrible ain't it - a Secretary of State for Education wanting children to stay in school when they're supposed to...

Surely the point is

a) Those are the rules, infact law. You can't plead ignorance of that once you've got the buggers.
a) Don't have kids if you can't afford them, including paying extra for peak holiday time. I have to as do most folks with kids. What makes you and your kids special?

We used to go to Cyprus every year untill '08 when it got stupid money to go, so we invested in decent camping equipment to cut costs. That worked for us. Ok so we're going to Florida this year, we've had to make some serious, serious sacrifices to do so including not having a holiday next year. I really can't see your problem. Nothing to do with Gove is it? Those were the rules from the Communists, sorry Socialist as well.

I understand and agree with everything you say. What annoyed me was that I was looking at a week abroad today - the week preceding half term was £2600, the week after half term was £2600, half term week was £4100.

Like you we've made sacrifices in order to go on holiday. Cheap staycation one year, abroad the year after and so on. If my kids were at a point in their education when they couldn't miss school i.e. secondary I wouldn't consider taking them out but up to that point is a week or two a big ask ? Surely it should be up to the parents to make this decision.

Reasonable response fairpaly Bewy  Clap. WRT your last two sentances, where do you draw the line? if you give an inch parents will take a yard. That's the problem with self regulation in any walk of life, it does not end well...

On the holiday front, where you planning on going? Have you looked at making your own arrangements?

I think Bewster was trying to make the point that the travel agencies have obviously upped their prices because they know they have a captive audience, as opposed to moaning specifically about his situation.

And if he didn't, I am.

Exactly! Fuck it, nothing much happens the last week of a non-critical school year anyway. Fact.
