Trains should have belts like all other forms of transport.
It's one of those strange ones as the majority of people if asked would probably say they felt safer on a train than a plane but totally agree with you Leefer about having seat belts on trains, even if it was optional whether you use it or not. I wonder if the new proposed 300mph French trains will or has them fitted?

Don't go to the buffet car, more people are killed whilst there than anywhere else in train crashes.  Wink

In the UK trains are extremely safe, so no need for seatbelts. The only reason more train crashes happen in the more deprived parts of the world is because the trains are dangerously overloaded and the trains themselves are poorly maintained.
