I love the Olympics, and i'm really looking forward to watching it - but I can't help feel this won't be very well hosted. The handover 'ceremony' in Beijing rang some alarm bells, then the ridiculous logo. Still, hopefully we'll see some decent competition, and maybe even win a few things.

I think a lot of the perceived negativity around the games is being peddled by largely by the London Media, who can't wait to blow up 'bad' news because it's what they do. I don't think their representing the true mood of the nation.

No event of this magnitude will ever run without Hiccoughs. I think by and large the general public are accepting of this, and are mainly excited about the beginning of the Olympics. You only have to see the amount who've turned up to each relay event to notice that.

The spelling of Hiccoughs. It just doesn't look right!

I think one thing in London's favour is that attendance at most events will be very high.  This has not always been the case at previous games...even Sydney.  Forget the football competition.  Football is not an Olympic sport anyway (in the minds of most of us, anyway) so frankly, I couldn't care less how many show up at Coventry etc.  EVents at the Olympic Park, elsewhere in London and at the rowing and sailing etc out of town are going to be heaving.

A lot of the rest depends on the weather.  The games you remember usually have a signature snapshot...like the diving competition in Barcelona.  If we get the weather right, there will be plenty of photo ops that will create quite a buzz.  London can be quite photogenic when it wants to be.

Never knowing the opening times of the Club shop, and the official site not showing the opening times of the Club shop either!!

Standard 9-5 Monday-Friday.  Not sure about Saturday, especially when there's no football.
The Whalebridge Junction. Not only does it not work, it's being ripped up and re-done (but not made better) because the tarmac is 'the wrong colour'. The powers that be in this town are fucking retarded.

Got stuck coming down Princes Street for the best part of 10 mins on my way home yesterday.  Instead of wasting more money on retarmacing, they could do with sorting the traffic lights out by the Court so they sync better.  The whole set up there is now an absolute joke.

Agree about whalebridge. A fucking joke. Par for the course now though considering what they did to the 419 junction at blunsdon

Surely all junctions need to be 'signed off' by the government travel authorities?

I never drove round the old blunsdon junction, but I find nothing confusing about the current layout. Whats so bad about it?

shit layout

I think it's an improvement. If you're heading straight down the A419 toward Ciren/Gloucester, you don't get held up at a needless roundabout. If you're coming off there to Abbey Mead or wherever, then it's no different than before really.

Agree about the Town Centre change though, an absolute fuck up. It took them the best part of a year to do that.

If you ever used the junction as a roundabout, it was confusing to start with as you were essentially moving left to turn right. I'm used to it now, and it's well signposted, but you do seem to have to go a bit out of the way to go from Thamesdown Drive and head towards Commonhead.

The blunsdon junction is miles better than the roundabout, do you not remember the rush hour queues? Used to get caught in it at work, sometimes queuing from the Kingsdown bridge all the way down. Way better now.

Its better than the roundabout as traffic heading north on the 419 doesn't' need to stop now. Its still not great though as idiot drivers get confused by the layout and cut people up.
