We were, but with the present exchange rate and rising house prices in the UK were not sure if we can afford it now.
Looking at France.

Agree house prices have gone through the roof. Houses prices are still relatively cheap in Somerset, North Devon & Wales etc if you didn't mind being out of Wiltshire.

In comparison to Swindon, Oxford, Reading, Bath & Bristol amongst others. Maybe check rightmove for your own comparisons.

soapy tit wank. I used to house share with a girl from Merthyr. She said even the Rottweilers went around in twos.

Looking at France.
Where my old man has his place in France its quite the buyers market at the moment, hence they cannot give the bloody place away so have had to get a tenant in when they moved back to blighty, they were lucky enough that when they bought the place in France they managed to keep hold of his new wife's place in West Oxon so had that to move back to. Agree house prices have gone through the roof. Houses prices are still relatively cheap in Somerset, North Devon & Wales etc if you didn't mind being out of Wiltshire.
Its entirely relative though innit, I imagine that your relatively cheap house in Somerset, North Devon & Wales would not be remotely relatively cheap if I was looking to move there from up here and I suspect even less so if I was trying to move from Greece!

I presume you found the data provided as interesting as you had hoped. The M4 corridor and South East account for something like 50% of the population and have always had notoriously high house prices relative the rest of the UK. It's one of the reasons I took the plunge in a move away, because anything within about a 60 mile radius of Swindon would cost more (Swindon being the lowest of that entire region pretty much). Aud, maybe back to Ireland, avoiding the FX issue?

Having been subjected to it, I agree. Then again I wouldn't cowardly attack an old fella.
