Legend.
From the golden era of football comms when they knew their stuff and before the days of a random pillock having to sit next to them.
RIP.

Absolutely. Genuine legend, we won't see his like again.

I read his autobiography about 25 years ago, was an excellent read. Any idea if it was ever updated as might have another go at it

Just Fontaine

I didn't realise he was still alive (until today that is). Scoring 13 goals at a world cup is something that will probably never be beaten.

At least not until they have 64 countries in the finals!

Indeed, and 89 isnt a bad innings, I thought he would have been older though TBH.

Proper sad about this. Pulp definitely were/are my kind of anti-hero band in an era constantly defined by the ''who can be the biggest louts'' of Oasis and Blur, Pulp just did silly shit like mooning Michael Jackson at The Brits and whatever else the fuck they wanted/decided.

Pulp are the bollocks. Love them. Seeing them later this year for the first time. I wasn't aware that Mackey wasn't even in the line up, likely due to ill health problems already.

Was debating Blur too but shite support, although they've added Paul Weller to the Sunday now, but ticket prices are mad with a golden circle at the front like they're the stones or something.

Weller was one of the most disappointing gigs I've been to. Only one Jam track. Not a fan of his later stuff.
