I'm not usually a "rumour starter" but just had a phone call from a mate, who had a phone call from someone at "Swindonweb" saying Danny Wilson has been offered the job....

So just checked it, and at the top on the scrolling banner it says the following:

BREAKING NEWS 8:55pm: It's Wilson! Former Hartlepool Former Hartlepool manager Danny Wilson has been offered the Town job today, SwindonWeb understands. Chief executive Nick Watkins earlier described him as a man of '... great character'

http://www.swindonweb.com/

and a link to a story earlier in the day:

We shall see... Plenty of other people have been offered this job in the last week!

Thanks for sharing bob, I think we are all probably too cynical about these unsourced rumours now.

Be interesting to see what comes out in the morning.

Yeah I think everyone has grown a bit immune to these rumours now....but its still exciting to see yet another name down in "internet based text"!!

For what its worth though, Swindonweb are usually pretty reliable.....

Danny Wilson's backroom staff is interesting....

I think I am right in saying that Danny Wilson doesn't have a regular entourage.

Danny Wilson's assistants...

Eric Winstanley at Barnsley
Peter Shreeves at Sheffield Wednesday
Frank Barlow at Bristol City
Ian Bowyer at Franchise
Ian Butterfield at Hartlepool

I don't really have a point other than he's a decent 3rd tier manager who won't appear to insist on a particular coaching staff.

As people have said, hard to believe any rumours at the moment.

I wouldn't mind Wilson - reasonable record at this level

He's managed at this level twice; four years with Bristol City, at the end of which he left them where he found them, still at this level, and the job at Hartlepool he just got sacked from. Now I'll admit the Hartlepool sacking seems a bit premature, but that's hardly a sparkling record is it?

I'd be a bit disappointed if it was Wilson.

Dissapointed but relieved it was all over and we can get on with looking forward to games again.

Wouldn't be my choice, but at the moment I feel the need for a new manager is so great I am happy to take him and hope he can get us back on track.

Wilson is experienced...a patchy record, but it does include keeping the Dongs up when going there in December when they were in the bottom 3.  It was the following season he took them down.

And I'd just like to say, I'll eat my left foot if we get a managerial appointment today.

(That worked on Saturday when I turned to my missus and said I'd eat my right foot if Timlin scored that freekick thinking there was no chance in hell it was ever going to happen.)
