Coppell and Harford were there for a meet up of ex STFC assistant managers under the Plymuff chief scout.

So was Betsy there or not? Got the impression from Fitton's interview on Points West before the game that would be signing someone tomorrow. I guess it's Casal but you never know.
Think Betsy was in the Arkells heard a few different people talking and apparently he wants to sign for us but he has a year left on his contract at City, so they're trying to sort it out so he's signed before Saturday.

But it also states the reason both were there. Seems that Plymouth suprised everyone with this line-up.

I would imagine Coppell was there as Argyle play Reading on the 16th.
And Harford as we have Luton in the Carling Cup 1st Round.

Clever stuff from Luggy. He puts a youth team out knowing that Coppell and Harford would be there.

All in all, Nalis didn't impress me tonight, seemed off the boil but understand he needs to improve match fitness and be a bit sharper etc.
All in all pre season wise I have to say I am suprised by Jack Smith. After pretty much being told he could look elsewhere for a club, he has come back, clearly worked hard and has been performing as well as Ive seen him previously. I know its only pre season but still.

Nallis still looks a bit poo to me. Joyce was good although a little over-eager. jerel was quality, dealt with everything. Macnamee was entertaining but I think he either needs to get more ball or drop inside to collect it as he was under-used tonight. Will Evans looked solid after a slightly shaky start.
MOM was Paynter in the second half, so many good headers I lost count, Joyce played well off them. Kennedy looked good on the left when he got his confidence up although I worry about his strength on the ball. Smith in goal was good, I'd honestly start with him over Brez.
JP had a reasonable half, better than most of last season.
My ideal starting line up on Saturday would be:
Smith, Ifil, Kanyuke, Smith, Aljofree / vincent / kennedy (cop out i know) Timlin, Easton, Macnamee, JPM Paynter, Cox

Agree with that apart from Vincent not looking to be fit for Saturday.

Not quite the reaction from a lot of people at the game - spoke to a good few people (including a couple of muff fans) who were under the impression they'd be watching a first team side, under Sturrock and were pretty hacked off he'd seemingly pulled both himself and his first choice side out at the last minute. "Disrespectful" was a word that kept coming up, and this most strongly from those who'd been quite keen on the man himself until tonight. EDIT: Should have added, thought "disappointing" would have been more the mark, but then perhaps I expect less from pre-season friendlies. Even if you do get a nominal "first-choice" side, they usually play well within themselves anyway, and I wasn't that fussed about seeing a tiny Sturrock-like figure waving briefly from the dugout but maybe that's just me. Quote of the night goes to Joe, just turned 6 and attending only his second evening game - 10 minutes from the end, he's clearly flagging and tired. "Are you all right Joe?" "No, Daddy I'm completely fed up", "Do you want to go now then?" (in outraged tone) "No, Daddy, I'm staying till the end". Already knows what it is to be a Town fan - totally fed up, but determined to stick it out. I was so proud.

Didn't go myself, would have done but not really any point knowing they were going to put out a youth team. Not a very professional thing to do and considering Sturrock used to be out manager you'd think he'd give the fans who used to sing his name a bit of a show.Even the fact there were obviously other managers there to watch his side its no excuse.Would have been annoyed if i was a Plymouth fan who'd made the journey let alone a Town fan! Saw Points west and they had a preview of our season, always reasuring to see Fitton talking so much sense. Also Axs got on to it as well, celebrating like a loon in the opening montage, what a star
