I’m sure fans will find a way to have a dig, but that’s a huge amount of money for a 16 year-old that I feel we shouldn’t turn down.

It's a good number, it's just how much lifting 'could rise to' is doing, really.

Sad you never get to see your best youth players play for the club, but such is life and the money disparity between the leagues.

So the Minturn to Boro rumour in Jan was mistaken identity?

As alluded to before, I’d take the 1.5m with reservation unless we find out what type of clauses they relate to and if they’re realistically going to be achievable.

But a 500k up front fee would be very decent.

I guess there’s more chance of him making it at Boro than a Prem side so more chance of getting close to the 1.5m. Hope we have a good sell on and most importantly, hope that money can be reinvested in the club rather than paying off miscellaneous fees

The real game changer is the sell on if they really make it. Was it 8m Exeter made on Ollie Watkins to Villa or something?

Exactly this, although our history of young players going to bigger teams has not been the best, most have disappeared into academies never to be seen again. Tower was probably the best having had a decent lower league career, but don’t think he was ever sold for big money

Indeed, if Max Kilman goes to West Ham for 45m Maidenhead stand to be 8m richer from their sell on.

I doubt there is much we can do to hold onto Harley Hunt. He looked very good in those few games, well beyond his years. He could go far. I wish we could keep him for another year or two, but if we can't, then cash in *IF* those funds go into proper investment in the first team. We are still some way short, I think, from having a squad that is going to compete at the right end of the table - we're short at centre back, creative midfielders, wide players and backup/competition for Glatzel. We must keep recruiting.

It was probably more likely, watching Minturn, all of a sudden Harley Hunt makes his professional debut - let's keep an eye on him too, minturn gets injured for the season - let's keep watching this Hunt fella, actually given ages let's switch our focus to Harley.  We decide to offer Minturn an extension as he is a capable stand in for today - Boro say, fuck it - let's bring the younger one in.

Yep, as you say sell, if its invested into the first team, and not to pay that fucking mercedes off or some other bill they have forgotten to pay

Joe Acklam has said we have a full back with the squad - young, but not quite ready for the first team - expected to sign.

Man Utd for one. Must have impressed in that FA Youth Cup game last season.

Lower league football is all about the here and now - no time to develop young ‘uns for the future.

Wow we can only dream of that sort of sell on.
