As if you believe anything that comes out of the Club.
I don’t, full of shit from top to bottom.

Heard at least 10 rumours today.
Until anything is factual no longer going to raise any expectations.
The only thing right now which is factual is we are absolutely shite.

What is mad is that an owner with any ambition would have got Kemp and Young purchased early in the season when there were deals to be done.

Well they 'tried' before the summer window ended and couldn't afford them then, so they were never likely to afford them now. Young was a complete gamble lets be honest, and it worked. He scored a lot, but in patches.

Kemp was the one where the signs were there post Pool loan and with 1 year left you would have thought that was the investment worth making at the time. Clem has to invest to flip players, its not going to be done on free transfers. Kemp may  have cost 200k max in summer, but he is worth 500k+ now already, and thats money lost because we didnt invest.

Anyway, the positive is it showed Flynn could spot a player. And i think overall he has done okay, UGM and Kokolo have something, so does Kinsella (a better attitude than all our other midfielders). Ben Ward and Genesini seem like panic buys for bodies, that cost next to nothing.

So maybe he is worth another window. But its a real worry.

I think thats why its laughable we lurched from the director of football model to the manager doing it all after Sandro. The model wasnt the problem, the people were. That model with Ben Chorley worked, and would still work now. Then we wouldn't have worries about a manager wasting a window as we are about to.

The other major concern and failing was Clem stepping in to buy Austin. He scored some goals last season, but overall its been a bad decision in my eyes. He starts every game even though he doesn't deserve to, as if there is something else going on there, or they dont want to deal with his attitude when dropped. If Clem has stepped in and made this sort of decision before, who knows what will happen in Jan.

Austin has arguably cost us two managers.

Lindsey left and it seems like some player power got Morris binned. Austin wearing Morris' coat this season was clearly not a coincidence.

Maybe, just maybe, you could understand it if Austin was prime Alan Shearer but it feels like Clem has him down as a totemic figure, which given how he scurried out of the club the first time, he most certainly is not.

I love seeing Chaz scoring a goal but he's no Super Sam or even Simon Cox IMO.

He isn't worth the drama he has caused.

Completely agree. I dont believe he is on as much as people rumour, but i would think he is defo one of the top paid players, and for what this season?

The fact that Clem gave him the 1 yr extension this season was just stupid. Should have waited for what the new manager wanted.

Austin knows where the goal is but hasn’t got the legs anymore. Play him in an old fashioned 442 with wingers supplying crosses and let him stay in and around the 18 yard box like an old fashioned Steve Claridbe type and he would probably score a hatful of goals but unfortunately the game and systems has moved on so doubt at at will happen!

Absolutely this. When the goals were flying in at the start of the season, Charlie was unlucky with a few off the bar or good saves from the keeper where Kemp or Young tapped in the rebounds. Got the impression he was a positive influence on Young and created chances by taking 2 defenders away into space.

We have run him into the ground especially with the lack of options in recent weeks. He was tracking back, defending set pieces for 90 mins against Wrexham so by the FGR game he's running on fumes.

He should be in a system that supports him or playing a cameo like Mansfield and Accrington when space opens up late in the game but he's fresh enough to impact.

Second spells at the end of careers usually don't end in glory and peter out like Kerslake, Phil King or even the Don as examples.

Good points you make.

early season Austin was also supplying assists.

But he's not the only reason we have lost attacking fluidity

Pitman scored 11 goals in L1. I always thought he was slightly harshly judged!

Yep...sadly I have to concur with the Charlie comments. He doesn't appear to be able to hit a barn door and there was obviously a reason why he went to Oz rather than a Championship club...

I am sure Charlie would like to play the Pitman role and not track back just waiting for chances.

Pitman was 32 when he signed for us and only 35 now playing in the Wessex League 9th Tier. Charlie is 34 now and putting a team shift in.

I just think he deserves to go out on his own terms at the end of the season.
