I don't think anyone is saying he is shit as such but when you consider that midfield has been our weakest area this year and someone with as much ability as him has been so poor i can see why people are not fussed he has gone.

Are you sure no one has said he’s shit? FWIW, I don’t subscribe to that but I’ll wager there are many saying he is or was. I have heard the from my seat in the DR stand. Agreed this season he has been nowhere near his previous form but underneath there is a good player. Nigel Clough thinks so.

I don’t think I’ve out right said he’s shit but I really don’t think he’s much more than a sideways passer & have said that the entirety of his time here.

Think we tend to remember last seasons Reed more fondly because Payne would go and get the ball off of him and drive forward with it. We haven’t had that this season & it’s really shown up Reeds limitations.

100% I cannot help thinking he knew what this season was going to be like when Garner fucked off and a load of his supporting act didn’t resign either. Then SL ends up with the gig and he’s a lone participant in the STFC reality show called ‘Help me I’m a footballer get me out of here’ to which his agent has duly obliged his client.

which is a shame because if you look at the table if he and others had improved and played instead of sulking we may be ok. Have any players who left us in the summer gone on to much better?  I don't mean financially but all those who went off i am not sure have started more than 10 games this season have they

Doesn’t look like it. We inhabit the periphery of the football world which works differently to the work place most of us inhabit. If Reed had played this season like last we’d not be having the conversation but there it is. He hasn’t and has moved on. Wish him well just not against us.

Odd to sell him to a play off/ promotion rival on the face of it.

Interestingly, the Mansfield CEO David Sharpe is formally of Wigan. I'm sure its just a coincidence rather than Ralph doing a mate a favour

Jacob Davenport has just been let go by Lincoln, plays in CDM, so gonna put two and two together, come to 46 and guess he's Reed's replacement.

Yes Mansfield are a promotion contender but Reed wanted to leave, hes not been in great form this season unlike last season, he lives in Sheffied so wanted to go back nearer his roots (Mansfield is only about 25 miles from Sheffield), he is reunited with his old manager, he gets a pay rise and we get rid of one of our higher earners and get a decent transfer fee with sell ons.

Yes we have to replace him but I am sure we will get someone in very quickly on that front.

From the Lancashire Telegraph:

Jacob Davenport is on the look-out for another club after leaving League One side Lincoln City.

The midfielder joined the Imps in September on a short-term deal through to January after training with the club over the course of the summer.

However, after failing to make a league appearance for the club, and only three in the cup competitions, the 24-year-old hasn’t seen his deal extended.

Davenport will now begin his search for a new club but now hasn’t played a league game in over a year.

He was released by Rovers in the summer after an injury-hit four years at the club, which restricted him to only 36 appearances.

Davenport made 10 appearances for Rovers last season, but all before the turn of the year, meaning his last league outing came in Rovers’ 1-0 win at Stoke City on November 27 2021.

Also, from the 'staceywest.net':

In other unsurprising news, midfielder Jacob Davenport has also left City after the expiry of his short-term contract. The 24-year-old only appeared three times for the club, twice in the Papa John’s Trophy and once in the League Cup. He seemed to suffer from injuries whilst here, missing some matches in those competitions he would likely have featured in.

I’m a bit gutted about this, as I felt he had the quality to make a real difference to our squad, and had he been fit, he would have been a natural replacement for Matty Virtue, who is currently out for ten weeks or so with a torn hamstring. Sadly, former Manchester City and Blackburn man Davenport wasn’t able to affect the first team as much as we’d like, and he will now depart Sincil Bank.

Rated when at Man City and Blackburn when he first went there, didn't progress as well as Blackburn had hoped but is a decent passer and a box to box man with energy and can tackle too.

Still only just turned 24 but withonly 50 odd games under his belt, sounds like an ideal candidate for Sandro to pursue.

My thoughts exactly, very talented but injury plagued.
