I think the difference is that RHM is a couple of years younger and has been ravaged by injuries so get him fit and he may be good enough.

However Adoloye had failed at pretty much every one of the 12 non-league clubs he played at scoring at roughly 1 in 10 in the conference, then had 1 half decent season at in the Scottish Championship - which is conference level.

It was always going to be unlikely that he would be able to step up.  An odd signing to say the least

If he was 20-22 you can maybe make a case for it, but he's going to be 27 next month and as you say looking at his club history does make it very odd that our scouting network decided to plump for him. I know it's a bit of a punt and hindsight makes this a bit easy, but surely Josh Umerah from Wealdstone would have made more sense. He has 8 goals in 22 games for a very bad Hartlepool side.

Yeah, that appears a much better punt.

But that's not how we are "punting", which is why we do end up with the odd 27 year old.  We are ignoring the primary stats, like goals per game etc. and focusing on some underlying stats we have identified that suggest a player "could" make that kind of return if only they were in the right team, coached the right way etc.

Obviously we can’t afford the finished article so we have to take punts.

Could be underlying numbers but could equally be the 11 goals in 32 last season for a bloke that is strong and quickish.

It's very hard being a striker in this team because, other than Hutton putting in a good cross 1 in 2 games, we have no idea how to create chances (although it was funny watching Aston Villa play Stevenage in exact same way we did yday).

That said, agree with the Curran comparison. RHM looks like a pro footballer. Adeloye/Curran look out of their depth working out where to be, let alone what to do when it comes to them

RHM also played in the Prem and Championship,  scored in L1 and L2 and was regarded as a bit of a coup.

Tomi no doubt is shot of any confidence but to my eye doesnt look like an EFL footballer.... rogue formula in Sandros spreadsheet on this one.

To show how good RHM can be you only need to watch this one game when he bagged a hattrick vs MKD with an assortment of pace and goals and finishing, only 2 years ago.

Sorry but Tomi has never shown me any potential to even score 1 goal like these 3 at this level.

Hepburn Murphy has looked just as useless as Adeloye, he just had a better reputation coming in

Yet has still scored 100% more goals that Adeloye and won a TEF MotM, something Tomi has not done.

Exactly. Its revisionist and just excusing Adeloye for being shit and undermining the criticism as not valid.

RHM hasn't set the world alight either but its pure whataboutery as it seems clear and obvious they're a different calibre of player.

Its valid. He's been shit and is getting criticised for it, as is normal in football.

Oh wow, a consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat in the JPT. Could there be a more meaningless goal scored

Joking aside there isn't much to go on given their minutes played but to me RHM has shown in flashes that he might have something about him. Whereas from what I have seen of Adeloye, apart from a reasonable start at Harrogate on the opening game of the season has really underwhelmed.

Let's be fair, neither has really been given enough time on the pitch to give them an opportunity to shine and both have suffered from injury.

I am literally the only one saying anything so assume you mean me. I actually said they are both shit and both done absolutely fuck all apart from a tap in from a mistake against plymouth. My point was which you have overlooked is only one gets the critisism(which again i actually said is fair) compared to the other. The whataboutery comes from the fact imo they have both been horrific tbh and i am happy to hazard a guess will not be in league football in 2 years time. As for same calibre, based on what they have offered in league if we are judging one and not the other is it not fair to say they as bad as eachother, no goals no assists and literally fuck all promise
