Are we even signing Bamba?
Just seems it appeared on the internet and we’ve all taken is as gospel.

I think you include the youngsters in the squad total. Even if they do go out on loan, I assume we still pick up the wages anyway.

All feels a bit last season at the moment - desperately short up front and lacking in proven squad depth…

…however all those talking about cast offs, let’s not forget Harry McKirdy’s previous before he arrived. Based on his prior career none of you would have signed him…

Bamba talk started from Football Insider and Pete O'rouke- probably the most reliable football league sources along with fud Nixon.

I defo would have signed McKirdy off the back of his Carlisle spell. Was one of the best wingers in the league that season.

True

wouldn't have signed JML either though!

Said before it's not that cast offs can't succeed. It's now part of the business model they do.

But it may take time

Maybe just maybe - he gave a rough answer and might change his mind / use the budget differently compared to what he originally thought depending on who is and isn’t available.

Just because he said he wants around 22 doesn’t mean once he gets to 22 he can’t sign anyone else for ever…

Also, is the 22 squad or contracted players. Is it 22 STFC players + 4/5 loans in?

The Bamba talk all said he was signing on Monday as well but…

How many goals / assists did he get that season? I don’t recall anyone talking him up that season

Be rotten now if Bamba and Payne pick other clubs, especially in our division  Head Hurts

Just had a look, not as many as I thought.

Good record in Premier League Two though. Hard to judge, but let's hope he works out. Bit of the Admiral Muskwe energy about this one - so let's hope there's an Eoin Doyle/Jerry Yates to come next!

I did notice he shares an agent with Louis Barry, Joe Tomlinson, Harry McKirdy and a few others previously of this parish. Fairly large agency though so probably a complete coincidence.
He got the 1st goal against Melksham. Took it really well too. He looked quite dangerous on occasions. Only played the 1st half.

Me too. I’ve said this before but who would’ve thought we’d end up with Williams and Reed last season? Perhaps I’m being naive, and I’m sure there are plenty here that would reaffirm that I am being, but I just can’t bring myself to be doom and gloom right now. Not having a pop at anybody at all, but I’m just not riding the same wave of negativity that some on here, justifiably or not, seem to be

No doubt we will end up signing him…

But a mate of mine who is normally ITK text me to say Bamba deal isn’t happening.

‘Jacob Wakeling is an excellent addition for Swindon Town, really feel he’ll come into a league of his own in League Two, he’s quick and direct. Will get goals due to his intelligence in and around the box. He now has a fresh start and can go and kick on in his career #STFC’

Not surprised by that, that is what I expect him to be like. Hopefully this counteracts some of the negativity or worries within our fanbase.
