There has to be a point where we need to trust the data driven recruitment.

I would love nothing more than a couple of names with experience, but we have had names and they have been shite.

It’s a leap into the unknown, but this could be the beginning of something exciting.

Or fast track non league. There’s a balance, you need to prove the concept here with a small sample then expand it once you have POC. Going all in from day one is a recipe for disaster, like I say I hope the majority are with an eye to try and develop supplementing a solid 13 or 14 genuine first team players.

Agree, i think we will see 2/3 more like this come in then start to see more established players as such come in. Last year we had the likes of East,Parsons Aguiar,Mitchel Lawson sat on the nench for us. I would like to think these lads are being bought in in the hope they are better options than them

Yeah it could be start of something good or it could see us down to no league.
Possibility it also sees us somewhere between the play offs and the relegation zone.

Does it really matter if it takes another 2 or 3 weeks to sign a few experienced players?

Surely the main thing would be that we do sign them?  More experienced players will be able to hit the ground running more than those coming into a 1st team picture for only the 1st or 2nd time in their careers.

If we sign a brilliant, experienced player to walk straight into the team a week before the season starts I won't be bothered one bit that he wasn't signed two weeks earlier.

It's that time again, where Pericardinho tells everybody to calm down a little!

I have decided, based on a Melksham Town friendly and a quick google, that Wakeling is fast and can operate all along a front 3. Therefore, I've decided he is nothing more than a JML replacement. That's what's making me feel better anyway.

JML to Wakeling. Let's be honest he can't be any worse.

I’m not sure this is the point you think it is

JML was shit. A large part of why we fell short last year was because the players on the bench were shit. We dont need to replace depth, we need to improve the depth

Suppose that's where we have to wait and see and trust that these players are an improvement. If we add the 3/4 we are likely to add then we can potentially already be looking at a stronger squad than we had last year . The next batch of signings are key for me

He got the 1st goal against Melksham. Took it really well too. He looked quite dangerous on occasions. Only played the 1st half.
Apparently not. Just read a report that said he only played the last 20 minutes so he isn't who I thought he was.

Anyway, whichever trialist scored the first goal took it well.

The worry is the experience does not turn up and we go cheap. Then we lose all the good will n support from last season. Hope your right and we have a few in the bag, but have supported town long enough to know this could happen but hope I am wrong

Yep, agreed. I’m not writing the kid off, he may well be better than JML - I hope he is.

It’s not the players per se, it’s the reliance on the inexperience they have which has got people twitchy.

I fail to understand what sort of data is available for these young players to base decisions on.

It may yet turn out to be a master stroke - but I’d say the odds are more against it than for it.

It is what it is!

Interesting to see how the signed players get on - They may be world beaters or they may not. We won't know for a couple of months.

Also interesting to see how many of the other trialists get taken on or how many new ones we see.

I always think this is an exciting time - I've not seen any of them play before, including the very experienced Bamba. So, I have nothing to form an opinion on. But I do hope we sign a big, powerful and quick target man or two before the season starts.
