Him and Payne both said they needed some stability. McGirty has been given a decent rope of length regarding his off pitch shenanigans. I’d say, of the 2, Payne with 10 goals and a handful of assists would be seen as a more solid signing for someone - although he’s not done much elsewhere.

I’d like to think they’d both be here next season. Reed May fancy his chances somewhere else. JoJo I honestly can’t see leaving this season with him missing a chunk of time at the WC. Williams can’t seem to last a full 90 minutes let alone consecutive games so his options may be limited.

If we can get a squad built around those 4 or 5 we’ll do OK - hopefully that bit better than this season.

Payne won’t be here next season.

I want our midfield strengthening- they are far too porous at the moment which results in unnecessary pressure on the defense. Attack wise they are great but god, they let a lot get through.

100% with you on this.
Our weakest position and gets physically out muscled most games notwithstanding the lack of movement and inability to win the ball back.

Yep- I don't think that a crystal ball is needed to come to that conclusion.

Our weakest position is definitely centre half.

CB is STFC's Achilles' heel.

Part of the reason the defence looks porous is the lack of protection from midfield - we lack physicality in midfield - one of the big differences from the 2019/20 promotion team - which had Grant as an enforcer in front of the CBs.
We have been outmuscled in that area in a number of games this season.
Our midfielders are all comfortable in possession but not very effective when not - and they don’t all track their runners.

Scunthorpe might be looking to offload some of their current roster

If Payne leaving allowed us to get someone like Cooper and Obrien for the Season i'd take that.

Think it's widely acknowledged as our highest earner, no surprises if we can't afford to match his wages next season.

I think it’s also known that half of his wages are still being paid by Lincoln, that ends this summer

I'm not so sure he would be a regular in a league one team the same as Gladwin

Absolutely, it's all about subjective opinions where none of us know if we're right or not!
