Most windows are pulled to, no idea why the transfer one has to be closed so vigorously!
TBH I don't recall the phrase "Transfer window slams shut" before the advent of Sky TV, but then the window back years ago was never a huge thing like it is today.

Most people don't keep their money in a war chest either, but this is football so any reasonable amount of money is a war chest and every window slams shut!

Did windows even exist in the pre-sky days, aren't they a reasonably recent thing?

There has always been a transfer deadline day going back as far as I can remember (mid 70s) it was always 5pm on the last Thursday of March IIRC but you could still have loans after that date.

Yeah I knew there was the deadline at the end of the season, but that was less of a window and more of a shutter?

Yeah, we always used to dread it as we always seemed to sell someone on the cheap. Basically to fund the club through the summer it seemed
