Perhaps. I'm not sure there is any reason to be coy over names if its Woolery. Expecting it to be someone new.

Anyone know how Doyle has been doing in pre-season up there
One penalty v Accrington. 2 others against The Dog and Duck. Their last 2 friendlies they’ve lost by an aggregate of 8-1

He dosen't want to give too much away! It's a game of chess for the managers mixed with a poker face and Russian roulette for the players
I think that by now we should know that every word Wellens utters is carefully chosen.  If we can’t second guess him, then neither can the opposition! Cheesy

He's certainly not as open as Andy King used to be

But you know how fickle fans can be ans lose half a dozen on the bounce and the hate can set in

To a degree yes, though, hate? Really? Annoyance and despair but surely not hate?

I'm no Twine fanboy, but I don't see what's wrong with that comment.

He has looked decent at times in preseason and has been finding the net. What's wrong with acknowledging that?

Anyway, whether or not he pushes on remains to be seen, but at least he's playing at a decent level this time.

More importantly would help if Newport are paying all his wages.

The question is would we want Woolery or an unnamed forward we don't know anything about🤔

What really pisses me off about the Woolery situation is that if he signs up he won’t be anywhere near match fit, and he’ll have missed (avoided?) all the pre-season team building that will be even more important than usual this time around.  What we need is a first team squad that clicks from the off.  An incoming new player will still have some catching up to do, but should have some pre-season minutes under his belt.  I think when all is said and done, Isgrove will prove to be no great loss, as Jonny Smith seems to be just what we need.

This is indeed how I feel, Woolery will be 3 weeks behind so not ready for playing for a while.

Isgrove has already been adequately replaced by Payne/Smith.

I will say now, I have a feeling that Jonny Smith will be player of the season this year.

Well said and I would just add the club should have stuck with the initial deadline which was too long anyway and literally closed the door. Players now have too much power when I turn should be the clubs in control

I agree - if we’re scraping around to compete with others for a half-decent Doyle replacement, then shifting Twine, Reid, Hope, Palmer etc off the wages bill can only be a good thing.  We’ve made some good acquisitions, but the time has come to do a bit of trimming.  I continue to be so impressed with the way that Power/Wellens etc go about their business. It’s really encouraging and such a contrast to the approach adopted by others in the past.
