Don't feel power and LW learn.  Even power on a phone said yes some experience would be nice but it's like he's also saying can't afford that so not happening.

Defensively we were crap last season.  I wouldn't have kept JSW as don't feel he's quick enough or good enough.  But where we fans can see what would help improve us the powers that be do nothing about it.  We do need experience to guide the young ones.  Maybe older players would question  tactics to much and laugh at what Williams tells them.

Last season our leaders suggested our first 11 could compete but we were weak squad wise.  Seems like nothings changed there except we may have a weaker first 11.

Need left sided centre back with a bit of experience. Also a target man striker to hold the ball up if Obika is out. Is Delfonsou that kind of forward ?

Nah I said if we go on like that through August, then Wilson would get sacked....we didn't.

You may have confused it because of my reference to a previous opening day horror show in 64/65 when we got beat 6-1 at Bury and did get relegated.

Like £150k Luke Norris?

Also your point that we don't buy experienced pros because they'd laugh at LWs tactics is beyond a joke on so many levels - ignoring the fact that LW is, as we all know, very highly thought of by players young and old, current and former.

Again, come August 31 we'll have a good squad at this level. We're almost there now.

Think Reg nailed it when he mentioned the risk of doing late business and chucking players in the deep end, but good business is late business. We don't get the players we want or need early on. It's simple as that.

Still, reckon most of our fans would wish Power would take a £2m loan to sign Jamie O'Hara and Paul Konchesky like Paul Scally has done...

Quote from: Reg Smeeton
You could argue that we've been a bit unlucky with injuries, or you could argue, our close season of waiting and waiting then getting in a few lads who haven't maybe had the pre-season you'd like was  risky, and we've been found out.

Williams said that himself. Norris hadn't had a full pre-season, was a bit stiff and was an injury waiting to happen.

Obviously we still risked it through lack of other options.

I reckon most would like to be going into games with more than 1 centre half and 0 centre forwards.

Eh?

Norris played in pretty much all bar 1 of Gillinghams pre season friendlies

I'd go 4-4-1-1/4-6-0 vs Gills: Vig; Barry, NT, JSW, BOO; Furlong, Thomas, Kasim, Brophy; Stewart; Doughty.

Well yes, obviously. And by August 31 we will. We all know a CB and a ST are needed, and will be found.

Having 2 CBs out would cause most clubs an issue. Everyone knows we need another one, giving us 5 (debatably) competent CBs.

Having your best two out-and-out strikers out when you play one up would also cause most clubs issues as well.

Also - we're not going to switch to 4 at the back. Nor should we. Need a big performance from Goddard.
