I like Barry but Furlong is better simple as that. If it means we end up with a stronger bench with Barry on it then so be it

If you're right, then surely the bench will be even stronger with Furlong on it.😉

Think you're onto something....I'd like to see Vigs, Nathan, Yaser, Obika when fit, Doughty etc on the bench, then it would look really strong.

Better still... don't even put them on the bench. That we way have an impressive set of players on the fringes when injuries and suspension start taking a toll.
This is some groundbreaking stuff.

I like it....we must have a strong squad when Nathan, Vigs etc can't even get on the bench....sends out a strong message to the rest of the cannon fodder in Div 3.

One of my main wishes at the beginning of pre-season was that we saw a replacement or at the very least, competition, recruited for Brad Barry. Much improved and deserves to be part of the squad but remains a defensive weak link for me and if we were to enter September with him as our only option I would have been concerned.
I am therefore delighted with the signing of Furlong.

Totally agree. He has improved massively and that's without any competition, this can only benefit him

ditto. was absolutely hopeless in his first few months. but he's got on with it and improved loads. defending still average, but his attacking ain't half bad

Can't see it, loads of potential around the squad but I think we've all seen enough of Rodgers to know he's he's not really got it. He's by no means as bad as many say or think he is but for me he's a good squad player. Should struggle to get into most match day starting line-ups from now on, he could improve slightly but nowhere near the degree Barry has. If Rodgers is the worst we have then we'll be OK.

The way we play means a very high workload for our wing backs. A bit like Spurs did with their wing backs last season, I think Williams will look to swap BOO, Barry, Brophy and Furlong fairly regularly to keep them fresh and full of running
