It makes me wonder how players like that drag out a career in football... a 29 year old striker with 10 career goals!

The term 'supporting striker' probably helps I assumed he would be a 'big man up font' but he's under 6ft.

Any youtube footage?
Its quite amusing (although it shouldn't really be) that people keep bigging up this winger we signed based on a video of him skinning defenders in the Portuguese third division. Will be interested to see how he gets on in pre-season.

Fuck me. We're really scraping the barrel with this one, aren't we.
We could probably get away with paying him the minimum wage though.

If he can't score against Devizes then he's never going to be able to score!!

I suppose as long as we can pay the wages until the end the the transfer window in August, then there's no need to panic. "WE should have enough players to put out a team"....the problem comes if we haven't managed to move on the last remaining high earners. Pompey managed to get through last season, by just having players on monthly contracts.
Bloomin eck - is that the aspiration for this season? Can't say I am salivating at the prospect...

It's where we're at though...having to dismantle a squad and cobble together something for the season. We've been in this sort of situation many times before...strategic long term planning for a bright future has never been STFC's forte

Yeah, I don't think numbers will be an issue. We'll see if quality is an issue over time.

I still can't quite shake the feeling that Byrne is a waste of a squad place/wage, in a position we aren't really crying out for. Oh well!
I am, however, excited to see Pritchard play - high hopes for him. EDIT: having said that, I thought Parrett would be decent!

I still think Byrne is a winger trapped in a full backs body.

If Byrne has been signed as a full back then it is an utterly bizzare addition.
His performance at Griffin Park in May would have put most clubs off him. An atrocious defender who looked far too lightweight for a defensive role in League 1.
Potential there as a winger though.
