Not having a go at Chang but do I see a pattern emerging here, the boo boys going to have it in for Nathan Byrne
My money's on Navarro or McEvely for the boo boys' target this season.

Swindon Town have paid Tottenham a transfer fee, believed to be six figures, for Nathan Byrne - who'd only recently signed new deal at Spurs

I doubt many 18 year old recently released goalkeepers can afford to muck about. It's good that he got a Football League club.

From what I saw Byrne has a great engine, can whip a ball in and is quite handy in the tackle. However, he also looks as if a strong breeze can blow him over, and I think he's a bit positionally wank.

Those defects would appear to me to be things which can be worked on, through either tireless drills or lots of lat days in the gym. I doubt he'd cut it as a winger, but hopefully the guy with the great youth development pedigree can make him shine as a full back

A six figure sum for Byrne. There must be something more to this.

Caddis: check.

Player of the year, Nathan Thompson: check

800k over budget: check

Naturally, our logic is to spend money we don't have, or at the very least should be spent on areas of the team where we are bare or inexperienced, on a full back with defensive frailties who at the very best splits opinion between the "he may get better" camp, and the "utter rubbish" camp.

Perhaps.... given they knew we wanted him and we announced we actually had him a while ago, Byrne's fee was engineered, so he signs a contract, knowing he's off but enabling us to pay a fee. Whether in writing or on the basis of a handshake (with McCrory, I'll assume the latter) the fee is payment for the preference we are being given to their youth team.

God knows. I despair. Glad it wasn't spent on offering Alan Mc a proper deal though, because that really shouldn't have made sense....

It won't look as excessive once somebody, anybody signs Caddis.

Saying that, Jack Barthram can play at right-back too Smiley
