Wakeling might be a more realistic discussion if he's still not playing.
Trouble is I'm not sure he is what we need if Young departs.
He’s playing, and scoring, for their U-21s. |

I'd also have him back, but we would still need another forward, someone with physicality. We won't, likely, get either. We still miss precisely what we have missed since, well, for a long time. A spine. A proper defender, a proper midfield battler and a proper forward, so we can mix it up a little in League Two when needed, so we can hold on to a well earned lead and so we can stop being one dimensional (even if it was a good single dimension when it was working). That was the minimum, that was what we need to have a competitive team for the top three, that's not a competitive squad still. I'd argue we are five short in total for a sustained challenge (namely because we are so sparse in central defender cover and I don't count FBT as one). We probably have a couple of LWB disasters going spare though. |
