Respectfully disagree, but agree that Kemp is the best of the bunch. Mahoney, Dokes, FBT, Hutton, McEachren (in spells) and Young all have enough quality to warrant their place in a side good enough to be at the right end of the table, maybe even add Khan to that at a push - that is 8 of the first 11. But expect them to play every minute of every game, including JPT in some cases, it's no wonder they look tired and haven't performed to the standards we would like. Also you have to bring into the equation that they are following the game play from the manager which by his own admission is a high press all action style, and we are expecting them to do that all season and don't expect their standards to drop? Again, i don't think there was anyone was saying we were lacking quality when we were pumping 6 past Crawley.
Knew my post may have been controversial, but wasn’t a fan of Payne either. Both are good players, above L2 standard, but I prefer my midfielders to be bigger rather than small and nippy.

Sadler at Walsall is desperate to get Daniel Johnson out of the club in January.
Wasn’t he supposed to be about to sign for us pre season? Young replacement?
This from their fotum sounds bollicks though
‘ One of the main reasons DJ signed for us over the summer was because of the relationship he had and has with the fans. He could have allegedly got more money going to Swindon, but it was his respect for the fans that was the biggest issue and influence in him coming here permanently.’

Nope, well off the mark. Absolutely nothing to do with supporters. Had all but signed here but Walsall came in last minute offering him more money. It was close enough that he was going to be announced with the kit launch.

Interesting comment that got me thinking about 'bigger' midfielders we've had down the years. I know you don't necessarily mean height as I'm assuming you mean people more like Anthony Grant, who whilst not 'big' per se, had a presence in midfield. Clearly Ben Gladwin sticks out as being a tall, elegant midfielder. I have to say whilst of course you need to have a good blend, for me the small, nippy midfielder (which was what I liked to think of myself during 5 a side etc) always stands out. Hazard, Jack Payne, Kemp, Sammy Igoe etc, love these guys.

Gladwin was big but never put a tackle in. Tackling is almost disappearing from the game nowadays.
Who else plays with marauding CBs, anyway.

Gladwin was actually good at defending set pieces though, it was just mobility in open play that was the problem. Not unlike Austin this season really.

McKirdy is rehabbing after heart surgery, I doubt he will be doing much in January - better staying where he is and working towards bench appearances.

Wakeling might be a more realistic discussion if he's still not playing.
Trouble is I'm not sure he is what we need if Young departs.

He wasn’t here though either.

Still not sure why we didn't agree to sell Wakeling and loan him for the season?...
