Mayes had a (slightly) better scoring record the first time, if you take into account his substitute appearances.

However, it’s fair to say he was very good in his second spell

Scored that hat trick away at Rotherham on his debut, then prolific with my joint all time favourite player in your avatar.
Happy days for sure.

If Flynn is back Monday, there might be an incoming or 2 during the week - if he does, indeed, have some of his previous players lined up.

Obviously not OOC players but does that include players who’ve been released?

They haven't been released though, just not been offered a new contract, so therefore are still under contract until June 30th.

Doesn’t matter if a player hasn’t been offered a contract but still under contract to June 30, you can sign those players in June… can sign those players in May… it really doesn’t matter when they are going to be OOC.

For context, we signed Devine, Harries and Shade in June last year who were still “in contract” untill June 30 with United, gas and Leicester respectively.

This is true but several players know their destinations and we have also announded new signings well before the 30th June, one prime example, despite the absolute irony was Pierce Sweeney when he "agreed" to join us on 11 June 2021.

Also Jojo agreed to join us on the same day, well before the actual end of contract on 30th June.

Yeah, the contract not starting until July 1st doesn't stop you from announcing signings. Been done a bunch before.

No rumour, just speculation....I've been impressed by Omar Patrick when we have played Carlisle in the past two seasons. Has been on the bench as much as a starter this season. Contract is up. He would be the sort of hard-working, tough and speedy winger/striker that Flynn might like....Huh?

He’s a southern lad from Croydon. If it’s a choice . . .

The lure of league one may be too much. A quick google shows he has played over 40 games and got 3 goals for Halifax. Looks to be a big lad too at 6ft 2 ish.

Realistically there will be lots of factors to consider when choosing clubs and outside of wages and location, they will mostly be gambles. Alex Gilbey for example just won promotion with Stevenage and has chosen to drop back down to League Two with Franchise. If it’s a choice on long term potential between us and Carlisle then you’d like to think on paper it’d be us (preparing that slice of humble pie for when Carlisle reach the Prem in 5 years) but it’s a gamble. You could also look at it as Carlisle presents the opportunity to have a good individual season in League One and move on to Championship that he wouldn’t get in League Two with us but it’s a gamble and we could be swapping places.

That was a wildly over the top, in depth analysis into the possible signing of one player that we might not even be interested in. It’s that time of the year  Cheesy
