Three biases to beware of though:
- Father Time bias: after x years and y injuries, how well do we actually know the player and his current capabilities?
- Rose-tinted bias: Ah Nathan getting that Brizzle thug Elliott sent off and celebrating in front of the City fans. Yeah, but all those red cards, the injuries
- Prodigal bias: name a player who was better on his second stint with us
Bodin....at least as good, if not better...

But as I said previously it's a non-factor if the answer to all of the following is 'yes'...the questions which should be asked of any potential signing regardless of their playing history...

Would he want to play for us?
Would he make us better?
Can we afford him?

Bottom line is...

You don't sign a player because he's played for you previously.
You don't NOT sign a player because he's played for you previously.

Apparently, Nathan is doing an MSc in Sports Directorship.

He’d be a damn site more qualified than anyone else to run the club.

Exactly this. As much as some seem obsessed with signing anyone who has had as much as a bovril at the county ground, some others want to ignore perfectly sensible possible signings because they've played for us....which is equally as bizarre.

Mayes,
Quinn,
Kamara,
Bodin,
Ling,
Ajose,
Gladwin,
Obika,

Actually that's a longer list than I expected. Some big names there that had their best spells second time around.

All about opinions but no way did Kamara or Mayes have their best spells second time around.

Mayes had a (slightly) better scoring record the first time, if you take into account his substitute appearances.

However, it’s fair to say he was very good in his second spell

Just in a far worse team.
