Title: Euro 2020(1) Instant Win & Sweepstake (not treading on Sippo's toes)
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Monday, June 7, 2021, 14:42:03
Right buggar it, I'm doing it.

Ok with just a few days to go, I don't know about any of you but I've started to get "football tournament fever" - just me? Maybe so but anyone on here that is interested, I will be going ahead with my planned Instant Win & Sweepstake Comp combo. I'd previously mentioned  running this idea with both Costanza and PandaPaws separately but then I got busy and well...life. For what it's worth I think Chris (Sippo) has done a great job and I'm only annoyed that I didn't get a chance to enter his Sweepstake. For starters, Mind is a fantastic charity so nice one Chris :)

The Format
In this comp you'll get a double chance and all get drawn a team like a normal sweepstake but have no fear, if you draw out Finland or even England you still have an opportunity to win! Once you've been drawn your team(s), don't throw away your virtual tickets just yet as I will be drawing one randomly selected (and very lucky) team via something like "Randomizer" to pick the instant winner.

What could you win?
Well the instant winner (drawn on the eve of the Euros) will receive a replica England Italia 90 Football shirt courtesy of FootballShop and a 4 pack of Craft Beers from my kind friends at Bullhouse Brewery (you can check them out here https://bullhousebeer.co.uk ).

As well as the Instant Win, obviously a normal sweepstake will ensue, so those with France, Germany & Belgium etc. can sit back for a month as the rest of the teams fall away. This sweepstake part will have a 1st prize winner and beer prizes for 2nd & 3rd too (see below). This is also part of a charitable effort too, combined with Cancer Research UK and The STFC Trust getting 50/50 of the remaining funds.

Why Should You Take Part/Enter?
Two reasons, on top of the obvious potential of winning something above, you'll also be putting your money towards the two charities mentioned. In September my three sisters and I are taking part in yet another Marathon Hike so this will go towards some way to achieve our collective target (yep, we're prepared to sweat and ache a bit for your kind donations), raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Also the other half of the remaining sweepstake funds will go to the STFC Trust. Obviously in the current climate, the Trust are working quite hard and have my full backing in the direction they choose to take. I have also mentioned this to Terry (PP) as I know he has been putting a lot of effort in for the Trust of late. So actual big kudos to him in that respect and all involved with the Trust.

Breakdown of donations
I'm suggesting an entry/donation of £10 per team with the aim of raising a minimum of £240. Feel free if you wish to donate more, then please do so.

If the minimum is reached we will:
£95 - Cancer Research UK
£95 - STFC Trust
----------------------------
£50 - Sweepstake Winner
----------------------------
£240
----------------------------

Prizes Breakdown
Instant Winner - 1 x Replica England Italia 90 Football Tee & 4 x Bullhouse Beers
----------------------------
Sweepstake Winner    - £50 & 6 x Bullhouse Beers
Sweepstake 2nd Prize - 4 x Bullhouse Beers
Sweepstake 3rd Prize  - 2 x Bullhouse Beers

All beers will be shipped to each winner upon completion of the Instant Win Draw and Sweepstake Winners. This might only be available to UK residents, unless of course you are not a UK resident but wish to donate your prize to someone located in the UK.

On top of all this, we'll be planting a tree for each entry (so a total of 24 trees) via OneTreePlanted.
----------------------------

If any more money is kindly donated then we will split that again 50/50 between the two charities.

That's about it so if you're in just request in the comments below.

Cheers and good luck,
Bamboo & Bullhouse Brewery
:)

PS: There is zero chance of me "Arthur Fowlering" any cash as some of you on here actually have my address! Plus I doubt the sponsor would be too happy as well!

Thanks so far to all who have said they are in. Just want to make sure, any of those that are abroad (Flashheart & Aud so far) that you probably won't be eligible to receive the physical prizes directly but will be for the cash prize. Obviously you can donate/choose a nominated UK address that I can send to as an option.

As for payment, I'll either set up a Money Pool and/or will accept Faster Payment via your bank too. If the second option is chosen, just send me a DM.

We've got a quarter of the spaces filled so far, which is pretty decent. Hopefully get 'em all snapped up before Friday.

Welcome to new entrants

Crackity J
Wobbly B
&
Bobs Orange

We're just over a third pledged with 9 so far. Feel free to let anyone in your own networks know if they fancy winning some cash, beers and a pretty snazzy retro England shirt.

I've shared this in my own networks but they are mostly "pint nursing stingy norvverners" so it can be a tough gig but I'm sure we'll get there :D

Cheers Mr Orange, that's fine thanks. To anyone waiting for the Money Pool link. I will post later on or sometime tomorrow. Just waiting for a few more to jump on board and then we'll sort payments out.

Cheers,
Bamboo
:)

We've got 10 (pending an 11th). Near on halfway.

Be decent if a few more on here enter. Lots of "win, win, win" scenarios here. You'll be putting half of your donation to the Trust and half to Cancer Research. But also you'll have 2 chances to win via the Instant Win & Sweepstake. Also the Sweepstake has some consolation prizes too, so you haven't even got to be the best!

I'm trying to do it so that I don't have to enter as I'd prefer someone else to actually win and it avoids any potential animosity if I were to end up with France or someone likely to do pretty well!

On top of the prizes already listed above, I will also be doing random "beer giveaways" throughout the tournament so you might even win something just for predicting the correct score or the correct goalscorer...I reckon that's £10 well spent if I'm honest with you, especially if you're drawn a shit team...like England*  :)

*They'll go and win it now!

Well done.  I'm in also, if not too late.  Will DM you for bank details.

Would've done the same for you Sippo but Paypal, after years of previous use, now required me to send id online.  Sadly too much hassle.  Or maybe I feared being weeded out as a money launderer  ;)

Sippo was very flexible and allowed me to do Bank Transfer as I don't use Paypal.

If you don't ask, you don't get ;)

Hi all,

Welcome RedRag.

Cheers Mr Orange, I have received your payment fella.

Horlock, you can pay either by Faster Payment (Bank) or Money Pool (PayPal). If choosing the former then DM me for details. If the latter, I'll be setting up a Money Pool shortly.

For all: We have 12 entrants at present, so I'm just wondering who (this isn't a cert yet, just interested on uptake) might be keen on "doubling up" their donation to have a 2nd team? It's more because I'm worried about not get 24 individual entrants before drawing your teams on Friday. Let me know if your keen on that but obviously it's better if there is a full house :)

Money Pool link to be dropped later for those paying that way.

Cheers,
Bamboo

Welcome WTRRA, I'll drop payments details in your DM's dreckly. Yeah, I appreciate that the tournament might well have even been completed before getting through the initial post   :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Thanks so far though to the 4 who have made themselves available to double team

You're on standby for that. We have 14 entrants including a couple of my non-TEF mates. it appears I am somewhat tolerable in the real world ;)

If I get to 20 by around 10pm tomorrow then, I'll add you four in for the extra places and then will collect your additional fee/donation.

Ok, I'm setting up the Money Pool for those who want to pay that way. I'll chuck it on here inside the next hour. Thanks to all so far who have pledged to take part. Cracking bunch of prizes and I genuinely am very grateful to our sponsors for being game.

Catch you in a jiffy!

Right for some reason PayPal wouldn't allow my account to set up a Money Pool so I have had to just create a PayPal Me link instead.

Anyone who is wanting to pay via PayPal can do so here:

https://paypal.me/BambooWrites

When sending just keep it as "Friends&Family" and in the note enter "EuroSweep" and your TEF Name (so I can ID who it is that has paid).

Cheers all,

Bamboo
:)

NB: Call to arms for anyone not signed up yet, it's only a tenner and there are some great prizes - and craft beer like Double Axe at 8% as well as some more regular IPA, NEIPA, Pales and Fruity ones if that's your thing too. There's also some nice Coffee based Stouts to tickle the taste buds. Bullhouse Brewery are (at the very least) one of Northern Ireland's top Breweries and just seem to keep on getting better. They recently were also featured in BrewDog n Friends launch magazine. They also run a series of Tap Rooms over there so if you are ever in Belfast for whatever reason, go and check them out :)

Right now though, you don't even have to do that. A £10 entry/donation could land you some of their beers (amongst some other stuff) shipped right to your door. You can relax, enjoy Euro 2020(1) and sup some finely crafted beer from Bullhouse Brewery. If you don't drink - give 'em to your mate, neighbour, dog, terrapin, gran, whatever :)

Nice one Donkey, and welcome aboard. Just had a quick look on https://bullhousebeer.co.uk and it looks like Will (the owner) has added a few more in their range, such as Dudelsack - A German Style 6% Smoked Marzen and the wonderfully named Priests Socks - A Black IPA 5.6% made with Strata and Idaho hops!

I'm led to believe that all of Bullhouse's cans are 440ml as well, so none of this 330ml stuff. I'm not sure about you lot but I can already taste the beer! Fabulous!

Cheers to:

RedRag
Batch
Sippo
&
Flashheart.

Payments all received. For some reason FH, yours only sent through £9.21 but I'm guessing this was due to cross border money transfer fees (pesky PayPal). Absolutely no problem though but if you win I'll be deducting 7.9% from your prize   ;) 100% only joking, it's fine.

Berni, yeah that ok. I will let you know, along with others if needed. We're getting closer as both

Fowey
&
AldbourneRed

are on the list, so welcome to you pair. Puts us at 17 entrants individually. I have a few on my end/network who haven't got back/read messages yet but as stated, I'll leave it until late tonight before deciding on adding in double upper. If we get to 20 entrants then I might activate doubling up!

Initial Sweepstake draw will take place on Friday @ 6pm (BST) and I may drop a zoom link for this too. We'll use "Sweepstake Generator" to draw the teams, as in all honesty it's one of the snazziest and free ones I've found. The Instant Win will then be done via a "Picker Wheel/Wheel of Fortune" AFTER the opening match at around 10pm. So you can all chill out a bit and watch the delights of Turkey v Italy.

Only a few more stragglers to get on the list, would be nice to get a full house (individually).

Will be back on later to add any more entrants/check progress and update.

Cheers,
Bamboo
:)

Sorry mate, missed this earlier. Pleasure is all mine but indeed massive ones to Sippo for kind of inadvertantly giving me a kick up the arse. Fully support the stuff at Mind and will be making a donation in due course.

What's the saying "double the fun and a bar of soap..." something like that  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Anyway, yep should be a decent bit of fun and might help stem some of the semi final tears when England bow out to surprise tournament outsiders Turkey. Çok guzel indeed!

Cheeky fuckers.

Indeed. I don't know if they have an upper limit on fees but imagine they don't and you were sending a grand or two. £80 for not a lot. There's cheaper out there and faster too. Cheeky fuckers indeed.

If you are tantalisingly close to the target I will add a double for my brother (even though he is a Spurs fan). He lives in London so may like a beer or two if lucky. His name is Denis for the draw if needed. It's his birthday tomorrow ... #brotherlylove

LAST ORDERS!

Ok, so we are still hinged on 17 individual entries. I'm giving it until 3pm for ABFs and then at 3pm I will add in any "double uppers".

On the double list I have:

Berniman
Crackity Jones
Wobbly Bob
Red Rag (I think)
&
WhereTheRealRedsAre

Please tell me if I'm wrong on this but if this is accurate and the above are still game then we will only need another 2 (poss 3) entrants. I will have one entry (if need be) but I really don't want to have to do so!

I will check back on a little later (probs about 2pm) to sweep up those final few, give an update and send in the boys for any of those late payments  ;D

Cheers,
Bamboo
:)

Aud, just checking...are you the "Rosey" one? :)

Also, WobblyBob. Very kind of you and your donation has been received.

Fowey, I have confirmation of yours too. Cheers :)

Ok, just giving anyone a final lunchtime nudge and I'll check back in a bit. Be great if the likes of Panda Paws, Costanza, Peter Venks, Tans, Jayo or similar got involved but it's purely optional fun :)

Just in case anyone was unsure and thinks that I'm pulling a fast one (I have had messages saying as much, albeit not on here) for some reason... well the beers are here and we have 18 entrants so far.

We have some kind souls who have offered to pay for two teams which provisionally takes us to 22 (possibly 23) entrants.

With that in mind...we're putting it out there that there are just TWO spaces remaining and you have just under 2hrs to claim a spot.

If you fancy winning:
A Retro England Shirt
£50 cash
A load of Beers from Bullhouse Brewing Company
&
Helping whack a load of trees in the ground!

As well as this you'll be helping to raise very worthy money for two great causes in Cancer Research UK & STFC Trust. Also I (along with my sisters) will even be sweating it out in September via a Marathon Hike. Yep, just to try and secure your donations; whilst I'm doing that, you can potentially kick back, relax with a nice cold beer, revel in the glory of your snazzy retro shirt and feel good about having planted some trees.

If that isn't the equivalent of a well deserved pat on the back and a tenner well spent then we don't know what is!

£10 entry/donation. Shout "I'm in" in the comments and we'll send you details to pay.

If you're feeling generous anyway and just want to donate then feel free to drop whatever amount to;

https://paypal.me/BambooWrites

Cheers,
Bamboo
:)

Ok that puts us at 19 (including me unfortunately).

I want just one more of you and then I'll add in the "double uppers".

Only one more entrant needed to hit 20.

Cheers all so far, I know its a tough time to even just enter one charity led event/game so the thanks is even more appreciated.

What with Rich's Alan Mac Charity Match, Sippo's Sweep for Mind and mine on top (as well as no doubt some other endeavours I'm not even aware of) there has been quite a, bit of charitable action.

I think anyone who has donated to any stuff recently or even just passed on the message to others genuinely deserves one hell of pat on the back. Without donations, sponsors and suchlike, there would be zero funds. So from me, back to you lot it is a massive thank you :)

You are now added with an extra paid entry and can now pay entry/donation.

Ok, so I have tried to create the sweepstake and combine it with a Zoom call (I tested this earlier and the site was ok) but the Sweepstake Generator site was rammed which was making it pretty slow but I have managed to do a screen record and I will now post the link for you guys to view.

Bamboo is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Topic: Euro 2020(+1) Instant Win
Time: Jun 11, 2021 10:05 PM London

Join Zoom Meeting
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85451987906?pwd=Z0p5c25nUFlUUHI5bnMwV1NsMmhEQT09

So here is the live zoom link for the Instant Win Draw at 10.05pm.

No pressure to show your face but it's just a few mins to spin the a wheel to find the winner of the retro England Shirt and 4 Bullhouse Beers :)

I will wait till about 10.15pm for people to join the room and you may be in a waiting room when you join initially. Likely will have everyone muted for the draw just incase there is a random Oxford fan of something.

Catch some of you in around 15mins

I'll record it for those who miss it/can't view.

BB - I have triggered another £20 doing it a different way, if it works just refund payment 1, if it doesn't just refund the difference

Hey Berni, yep. It's still pending and taking 88p in fees. I will just deduct the 88p from the other one (as you suggest) and send you back

£19.12
-     88p
=
£18.24

I don't know what justifies those kind of fees in PayPal in all honesty. Think it's around 4.5% in this instance but they don't appear to be consistent. FH had a 7.9% fee deducted but of course that was at least due to cross transfer. This (yours) was GBP-GBP so baffled me. Unless it has something to do with being B2B (Business to Business) poss?

Anyway, if it all goes tuts up, I'll just pay the difference into the charity pots :)

I don't know why it is showing as pending..  My end shows paid 2 x £20, the same as always.  I haven't had this problem with any other payment..  And mine isn't a business account.

The business thing, there's an option on PayPal you need to change to 'family and friends' rather than 'paying for an item or service' to avoid fees.

Yeah there is usually the option to choose either or for the sender at payment (and a note if needed). This is usually set to F&F as the default option.

Hey ho mate, it's no problem. I had to go in to my desktop version and state that you'd paid for "virtual services" rather than a physical product. Maybe because I've received payments for framed prints via that PayPal, possible PayPal thinks that every single transaction done was for a physical product?! Still wouldn't explain the hold up.

Any way, it'll supposedly clear in a couple of days but honestly mate, it's no big deal...as long as you don't end up winning the thing and I get a backlash  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

I'll sort it :)

Ok so we're down to the nitty gritty. Tournament football gets "proper" now the groups have been decided!

We might be saying goodbye to 8 teams but in this competition - whilst you might be out, none of you are "out out" yet. That's because we will be doing a few random beer giveaways via a random teaser question. Whoever answers correctly will then be invited to "spin the wheel" to win some beer(s).

Keeps everyone interested - even those like Aldbourne Red, who drew the heroic North Macedonia. Horlock (the Instant Win Winner), with Finland who started with a win and DV Canio's Hungary - where at one point he could have been scoffing the Goulash, in a Round of 16 nail biter v England! I wonder what the Magyar would've made of that?!

Back to the competition. I've finally got round to putting a proper "Tournament Tree" as well as some extras if you have nothing to do tomorrow, after the "Power v Standing" Judgement (seeing as there is no footy for at least another 24hrs). Feel free to have a browse but the tab you really want to look at is the "Top 16" one. Especially if you're still involved in the sweepstake main prize.

There's an individual PDF to view the Round of 16 too, which will also be updated along with the spreadsheet as we go along.

Round of 16 PDF attached below

In depth spreadsheet
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1svLvh4eCbZhtiyq2DzVXtTiAZpbXC__9Ol8APBeRwk0/edit?usp=sharing

For those unsure of who they are (Round of 16):

Belgium (Off Grid Gary)             v Portugal (Fowey)
Italy (Chris Sorso (Sippo))         v Austria (WTTRA)
France (Flash 'art)                    v  Switzerland (Nemo)
Croatia (Batch Sarža)                v Spain (Grieta Jonah (Crack Jones))

Sweden (Kenny)                       v Ukraine (бамбук (Bamboo))
England (Wobbling Robert)        v Germany (Berni Herr (Berniman))
Netherlands (Gareth of Orange) v Czech Rep (Rozviklaný Bob (Wobbly Bob))
Wales (Arlunydd Audrey)           v Denmark (Sprække Jones (Crack Jones))

That's that for now! I'll update as we go along but keep your eyes peeled for the random beer giveaways too!

Cheers,
Bamboo & Bullhouse Brewery

NB:
Berni, I will drop you a DM tomorrow afternoon and sort the difference on your 2nd payment. Just been busier than I anticipated. Arthur Fowler is nowhere near the donation kitty - he doesn't have PayPal ;)

Horlock, I've DM'd you in regard to details, etc :)

Just a quick update before the Round of 16 Starts. If you've not have chance to checkout the Ro16 Tournament Tree yet then give it download and have a quick view. If you want a more comprehensive look at all the tournament data and team info (as well as the Ro16/Top16 tree) then the drive link on there is the go to one.

In terms of donations etc. Everything has been settled and Berniman, I've DM'd you regarding your refunded amount after the rather bizarre payment issue. All sorted.

I will be rounding up each of the donation amounts to £100 (from £95) for both the STFC Trust and Cancer Research UK - just makes it a more round number. The prize money still remains as £50 to the Sweepstake Winner and beer prizes also remain the same of course.

Any extra beers "given away" at random could be a mixture from either Bullhouse/Brewdog. I've contacted them (Brewdog) and they are also sending some out too. If you are to win a random beer giveaway then I'll beer sure to let you know what is available. Also, if by some great stretch I (Ukraine) happens to win the Euros then I'll donate the £50 to both the charities. It's unlikely but we only have to look at Greece in 2004.

Anyway, enough of that...it's time for the Round of 16 to get underway...

Well that was an easy start!

Audrey (Wales) is(are) out. Crackity Jones (Denmark) is(are) through to the Quarter Finals.

Denmark nullified Bale and maybe something is written in the script or stars for the Danes, in this tournament!

Here's the result...

Tie two for the “Round of 16”.

Should be plain sailing for Sippo (Italy) but WTRRA (Austria) has been strong in their group. With two wins and I'm sure many weren't expecting them to finish ahead of Ukraine (that's me  ;D). Arnautovic seems their main threat but Italy have been transformed under Mancini.

Anthems sung. Kick Off in 5mins...

Hahaha! Off Grid Gary is my mate, who apart from contact via mobile is quite hard to get hold of (in the modern era).

If you look at the tournament tree you can see all the "names" given. And a couple of pages back on here also explains who is who too  :D

So yes, some cryptic crossword ones but they all relate to the nation they have drawn :)

Well that was likely the best Round of 16 match so far, if you aren't in any way connected.

Crackity (Spain) eventually goes through but were pushed well beyond by Batch (Croatia). Some suspect game management by the Spaniards and credit to a so called "past it" Croatian team.

Spain are through, coming up we find out who they'll face on Friday...

Quick turnaround on this one, thanks to extra time in the previous.

We have Flash 'art (France), the tournament favourites taking on the emmentalists, Nemo (Switzerland).

Should be plain sailing for Les Bleus but if Shaqiri has his tiny little short man shooting boots on...could there be a shock on the cards?

They must be going absolutely emmental in Switzerland tonight. Nemo (Switzerland) manages to overcome Flash 'art (France). Similarly like the earlier game, maybe a question mark over game management.

Fantastic game for the neutral. Well done Nemo, sacrebleu to Flash' art!

Well it's the second semi final today so I might be quieter in around 3hrs.  In any case, all that qualified for the semis is in with a chance of 3rd, 2nd, 1st prize.

Crackity Jones has been "Mr. Lucky" getting his picks Spain & Denmark to the semis. He's guaranteed at least the Bronze medal, even if Denmark lose tonight. He's in the special Sweepstake Third Place Play-Off.

Massive congrats to other sweep organiser Sippo. You've bagged yourself a place in the final with Italy. This means you're guaranteed a Silver medal.

That just leaves Wobbly Bob flying the flag for England. If his team win tonight then he too, like Sippo is guaranteed a Silver medal. If not, he'll have to also go toe to toe with Crackity's Spain to fight for the Bronze medal!

Ok now....who wants to win some free beer?

Right then, so you want to win a few tins of beer for not even having a team good enough to compete for a prize? You cheeky sods. Well I did promise and both our friends at Bullhouse Brewery AND BrewDog are giving you (yes even you North Macedonia) the chance to win upto six beers!

I'm far too generous.

Ok all you have to do is answer this simple teaser to be in with a chance of scooping the scoops of free beer. This is open to anyone whether you entered the sweep or not (if you win, donating to the two charities would be nice though).

Answers are based on first come, first served so there's no point guessing the same as someone else.

Teaser:

How many "in date" tins of food (soup size can) are in my cupboard?

Entries close after the end of the England match at around 10pm (or 11pm if ET & Pens).

Good luck!

I know that when I won the first draw he messaged me to say that my stuff would be sent out at the end of the tournament (in case I won draw 2 as well) and that he was unexpectedly incredibly busy with work, wonder whether (hope so) this is the case here.

A quick search on Facebook suggests that a account that I suspect is him, still has posting from it this week, so who knows. Would seem odd to go to all this palaver for £200.

Still alive. Funds all secure. Just been busy. Had next to all notifications turned off on devices  etc (sometimes it's a good thing).

Will be doing an update and "awards ceremony" as such tonight. Apologies for the delay though everyone.

Have other prizes, medals, and winners to contact etc. but appreciate in these interesting/uncertain times (STFC and World) that there might be some speculation of upping off like a "Fowler" and fans of STFC getting royally mugged off again.

Could never be the case, if anything this stage of our fandem (sorry, actually I'm not) has brought a consensus of us closer. Even those that nitpick amongst one another.

Will get everything sorted later on and that all important tinned can count.

Good Evening, and welcome to the unnecessarily and tediously drawn out version of the "Euro 2020(+1) Instant & Sweepsake" Awards Ceremony. Hold onto your STFC beanies (hmm beans...) and Lee Power effigies, it's going to be a very Bamboo length show, in which most of you will want to end up killing me by the first interlude!

First off, with regards to the timing of the EFL F&PT, I can't really say much more other than I used to work on behalf of Sport England, I know several Aussies and I also see dead people. I'm sure with the current movements regarding ownership, likely somewhere a few horses are going to be bricking themselves. It's quite possible "Brick Top" will be paying a visit to some incredibly respectable gentleman - with reference to feeding time as well as something about pigs.

Also, I don't use analogies that compare a club to a new house and the staff payment to a kitchen being installed after the house is sold.

What. A. Cunt.

Long gone hopefully now but I do fear that we will hear of his rumblings and now very limited connections, elsewhere at some point. We may not even have fully shaken his shackles off yet.

If yesterday were "Freedom Day" (still wondering what Willy Wallace would've made of that) then today now feels like "Redemption Day". The day we likely felt the sense of having our club back. Especially on a social level. It'll never likely be "ours" on a financial level as some may remind us on here. It's more a sense of being, belonging; that whole community or family. This is more of what makes a club "ours".

The sense of ownership to most fans is not one written in the courts or via transfer of shares but how the club is our constant and we too are the constant of the club. We are the club. We are Swindon.

Now onto a new manager and freedom of the county for Steve Mildenhall? I might as well also start pressing on with dishing out these awards too hadn't I?

Here we go then. Told you it would be drawn out. In light of lots of positive STFC things happening I'm sure not too many have been that bothered.

Ok, onto the first award for the  "Random Beer Giveaway".

I asked you (and some not on the TEF) to guess the pretty much unknowable question of;

"How many in date tins were in my cupboard?"

It prompted some lovely responses as well some discussion regarding my hoarding habits. I did used to have a huge catering size tin of Stagg Chilli which was pretty decent but that was my only real foray into the nuclear fall out stocking campaign!

Anyway, there were 10 normal bean can size tins in the cupboard, but 3 were out of date. So the answer was and still is 7.

It was a closely guessed contest with Hunk opting for 6 and Bob's Orange laying down a firm 8 but no cigar (or beers) for them. Thank god as I didn't want a tie-breaker! Amazingly, it goes to show that even North Macedonia ending up winning more than just many peoples footballing hearts. Aldbourne Red correctly guessed bang on the beans and ou have won a pack of 6 BrewDog Beers.

Please DM with the title "Random Beer Winner", where we can discuss arranging your winning prize and delivery for you. If you do fancy donating anything to the charities please let me know. Well done!

Next up we have our prize for "Instant Win" winner, which was decided right before a ball had been properly kicked. Horlock was the lucky so and so in this instant draw and I already have your details. Just for clarity Horlock has won a Replica Retro England Football Shirt & 4 Bullhouse Brewery Beers. Let the supping and beer spilling down a new shirt commence! Once again, congrats!

Okay, so now we're onto the posturing stages of this awards ceremony. Where the prizes don't even matter, it's all about making it onto the podium of self righteousness and wearing your medal with pride. Ooh it makes me think of the Olympics, which are of course just around the corner. Come on Team GB Skateboarding!

Third place was in fact meant to be a tie breaker (since the Euros has no real third place play-off) and I had an amazing challenge prepared for the "lucky" contestants which involved them knocking on their neighbours doors and asking for random items. Whoever came back with the most would be the winner.

Well Crackity Jones managed to negotiate getting both Spain & Denmark to the Semi-Finals...which guaranteed him at least 3rd. Both his teams duly lost their semis and so ended up in the play-off. It seems a little mean to make Crackity fight amongst himself for his prize but what do we reckon TEFers, do we send Crackity on a neighbourly goose chase anyway?  ;)

Am I hearing "challenge accepted" from Crackity? If he's game, I'll double his prize up to 4 x Bullhouse Brewery Beers. He'll also receive the much coveted
"Euro 2020(+1) Sweepstake" Bronze Medal in a Red case (naturally).
Nice one Crackity. Enjoy your beers and be the envy (or discussion) of your neighbours, if you'd also like to DM me and we can arrange your prize and delivery too!

Now it gets a little more serious. The palms are sweaty, my hands are slippery from eating too many tins of Alphabetti Spaghetti straight out the can with no cutlery and were getting closer to finding out who the winner of Love Island 2021 is! Ahh fuck, wrong forum!

No, it is in fact time to announce the award of the Silver Medal prize, which for most of us will be a very personal affair. I'd lost sight of everything at this point of the tournament as a nation focused on England's first final in Mens Footy for...well, possibly too long. Like many who managed to witness the '66 World Cup Final this would be a first for many generations and despite the result, there is a sense that this current generation of players can go onto another Final so we might well be spoilt in this era. I still feel that England may end up being "Bridesmaids" but by jiminy lads, they've given a lot of us something to actually feel worthy of in one of the biggest sports in the world. Massive credit to the crop of players who despite not having that tiny little bit extra to get themselves past the post, most of them seem like bloody decent lads. I've even forgiven Jack Grealish for not having a clue what an "encyclopaedia" is.

With that, Wobbly Bob I'm pleased to announce that you are indeed the Silver Medal Winner, which means you'll receive 4 x Bullhouse Brewery Beers and the much coveted "Euro 2020(+1) Sweepstake" Silver Medal, again in a fetching red case. Allowing you to adorn as you return to many drinking establishments nationwide. I'm sure you'll be the talk of the boozer!

Congrats Wobbly. Please DM me and we can arrange your prize and delivery!

Bene, bene, antipasti and sleek suits. They certainly know how to dress and talk with an aggressively characterful charm and do some pretty decent food, any time of day too.

Italy definitely knew how to get over the line (even if it really was a lottery by the time it got to penalties). No shame of course, losing to the experience (shithousery) of several players who had won at this kind of level before. But what a tournament. What a sweepstake too!

It's only fitting then, that the guy who now has Italian blood forever more and incidentally was running his own sweep, also on the TEF is also our Gold Medal winner in this sweep.

Chris. Sippo, or now you may even adopt the name "Sorso" (TEF mods, you know what to do), I'm genuinely really pleased it's you who won this. Your eyes must've lit up when you glanced through the "Red Pages" (my name for the TEF) and saw, you'd drawn Italy. In part because I really did feel as though I'd be stepping on your toes (hence the thread title).

Sippo is the winner of the "Euro 2020(+1) Sweepstake" and he has won £50 & 6 x Bullhouse Brewery Beers. As well as this, he will also receive a most gloriously engraved and golden "Euro 2020(+1) Sweepstake" trophy (not in a red case) to parade around his home town on the No. 62 bus (via estates)...or maybe just to shove in the back of a man draw, with a load of other unwanted tat!

Congrats Chris Sorso, please DM so we can arrange your prize and delivery.

Final, final note. This is just a massive thanks to all of you who took part and donated in any way, shape or form.

Of course, one of the things I'm personally conscious about these days when sending parcels and packaging to various places around the world is the carbon footprint, so basically anything I do, I always try to offset this. The easiest way at present, is to use one of the tree planting partners. OneTreePlanted.org are one of the best, who do actively plant trees worldwide. You can choose where in the world you want replanting to take place and they also update the progress of your chosen planting location, all for just $1 per tree.

During this tournament/competition I pledged that for every entrant we would plant a tree. If anyone on here has a preference of location that they feel should receive our donation then please do pipe up. 24 trees will be planted via OneTreePlanted out of my own pocket, in order to make the Euro 2020(+1) Sweepstake not just Carbon neutral but actually Carbon negative (which is a positive thing, it means more trees are giving us mere humans valuable oxygen and actually negates the amount of carbon used to run this sweep).

======================

Also, I will now be making the next steps to process the donation of:

£100 - STFC Trust
&
£100 - Cancer Research UK

I will be making contact with STFC Trust over the coming days, so whoever is best to contact there it'd be great if someone could let me know. I used to know Steve Mytton when I lived in Newbury and he always seemed a very decent and approachable bloke. Not sure if it is him I need to contact though.

The CRUK donation will be added as a single donation named under (Euro 2020 Sweep) as this is going towards the fundraising efforts of both two of my sisters and myself, as we tackle another marathon hike, sometime in September. I will drop the donation link to our CRUK fundraiser for those who want to view, can do so in due course. Also, if anyone wants to add to our cumulative pot then anything, even a quid will not only be very appreciated but warmly received.

Right, that is about it. Unless I've missed something glaringly obvious?! Again, thanks to all of you, those that missed out or couldn't be arsed too. There is always something great about bringing together even just a few people. You've no idea how much the simplicity of this very notion is appreciated by me personally. Thanks but more importantly, thanks for being good sports.

I'm now off to get a spatula and scrape my melted self off the floor! Cheers and stay tuned for maybe some other opportunities to take part in some prize winning games!

Football already was home; we just didn't know it!

Bamboo
 :)

I'd be down for doing this. Can't guarantee I could update every week but I can certainly gather sponsors etc.

Thought about doing a weekly "lottery" for a couple of quid each matchday but people would get drawn a random team each match. Then I'd do something like spin a wheel every Sat or Tues eve to pick an Instant Winner.

Cash amount would be dependent on how many enter (like a pool). Could do it like "Snowball" too. So each match one of the 92 teams gets drawn, if no one has it, the money rolls over to the next match day so then it makes sense to either "be in it to win it".

A bit of fun (and no doubt drama), with the potential to win a pretty decent cash prize for nominal outlay  :pint: :pint: :pint:

Thanks all for the kind words. As I said before, there are tons of people who do stuff like this all the time and much more so than myself.

It's nice to see that the TEF can support several endeavours and to see several people taking their own time out to make these things happen.

In other news, some of the winners will be receiving one of these crackers in their beer package:

Road Trippin'
Extra Pale 4.0%

Whilst only a 4.0% Pale, Road Trippin' really packs a session ale punch.
Perfect for those warm hazy afternoons, where wanderlust and chilled times eventually give way to a wonderfully encroaching and fuzzy summer evening beer jacket!

With Stonefruit and Citrus hits, this Yeasty Pale boosts the more dry Citra Hop, yet keeping it all clean!

Please also go and check out the fantastic artist of this gorgeous can design. I reckon it's nearly as nice as the beer itself :)

Just waiting on a couple more of the winners to send DMs with address details etc.

Prize packages should start to be sent out from next week.

As for other comps etc. I'm happy to run a weekly "92 Lucky Dip Snowball".

I will put up a thread/poll to gauge some interest. But main rules would be...

Entry Cost & In It To Win It Format
The cost of entry will be £2 per week. With 80% to the winner and 20% to two charities.

You will get an assigned team for the first week drawn at random. This will become your "Lucky Team". Any subsequent weeks entered will remain your team throughout. Unless you don't enter one week.

This means, if you had Wycombe you would have to keep paying to keep that team in each weeks draw. For eg. Week 2, 3 & 4 you enter/pay £2 each week but Wycombe isn't drawn as the "Lucky Winner" = losing week(s), then on Week 5 you don't enter/pay £2 but Wycombe is drawn as the "Lucky Winner" = no win.

Essentially you have to be in that weeks draw to win that week.

Snowball Element
If no one with a valid entered team is drawn as the "Lucky Winner" in a week then all funds will carry into the following weeks and will "Snowball" until there is a winner drawn. If the "Snowball" is won before the end of the season then the "Snowball" will be reset and a new Snowball Jackpot accumulated.

Winnings Potential & Charities
Potentially if there were a full complement of 92 entrants then of course there would be a winner each week (as long as they entered that week).

The maximum available weekly pot (with all 92) would be:

£2 x 92
=
£184

With 20% going to two charities (10% to each), the maximum weekly winning amount would be:

£184
-
£36.80 (@20%)
=
£147.20 (that'll buy a few Sunday dinners)

============================

As stated though if we had less than 92 and only have say 50 entrants per week, then the max available and a representative e.g pot would be:

£2 x 50
=
£100

With 20% going to two charities (10% to each), the maximum weekly winning amount would be:

£100
-
£20 (@20%)
=
£80 (still a few Sunday dinners)

====================

If there were consecutive weeks where there were no winners then using the representative eg above - let's say there are no winners for 6 weeks and on the following week we have a winner. The Snowball Pot would be:

£2 x 50 (entrants)
=
£100
x
6 (weeks)
=
£600

With 20% going to two charities (10% to each), the winning Snowball prize amount at that stage would be:

£600
-
£120 (@20%)
=
£480

There will be if you enter each week, 46 chances to win a Weekly or Snowball Jackpot and the above is purely example so the prize funds for the Snowball could be much higher or lower.

================

Final Bit About Entrants, etc
There will be a relatively strict process on entry fees per week. Unfortunately, this is a part I don't really like to do but it is necessary. Due to the turnover of each week and other commitments, appreciate I can't be chasing potentially 92 or even 42 people each week for their entry fee. This means that all entry fees must be paid by 5pm on a Saturday, with each draw taking place on the Sunday.

I'm also aware that people can "forget" and do have lives outside of this and if people wish to, they can opt to buy bulk entries/weeks so they don't have to worry about forgetting.

You can also buy more than one drawn team if you wish but do remember that this/these team(s) will become "Your Team" and you still have to be paid up for both. Otherwise your entry won't count for that particular week.

======================

Ok, so if you managed to get through that, I will set up a poll to gauge any interest and we will then go from there.

As always, really appreciate your time (not just taking the weekend off to read this post) and it will be nice to continue some fun during the coming season, even if the Town had lost that week :)

Cheers,
Bamboohoo
:)

Hi all, everyone's winning prize packages should be arriving by the end of this week but there does appear have been some issues with a couple of the parcels. I had DM'd the relevant folk.

I will be adding all the raised funds to the relevant charities (CRUK & Trust STFC) the week following completion of my Marathon Hike.

Yep that's right, this weekend a couple of my sisters and I are taking to the hills and valleys of the Peak District to participate in 26+ miles of probably very soggy and undulating ground. But all in the continued name of charity; Cancer Research UK.

Those that didn't get a chance to enter the sweep in the summer can donate if they wish. Likewise, anyone who did take part feel free to support our marathon hike here

https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/bembridge-team

You can select donate on any one of our giving pages but it's all in as a team effort. Any donations will encourage all three of us get over the finish line in Bakewell :)

Zero pressure to donate, calling me something terrible will also give me considerable encouragement too all I say is please consider my sisters.

Cheers now,
Bamboo
:)

I can confirm that Bouncy Mark has been and the parcel has ben delivered all present and correct.

I should possibly have sized down on the shirt, but rather have some space to grow into than it be too tight! I will have a celebratory beer this evening, any recommendation!

Thanks Bamboo and good luck with the hike!

Bouncy Mark seems like a legend.

Not sure if this was meant as a DM but glad all has arrived in one piece.

Indeed the size was as requested but it's certainly a "Classic fit" probably true to the era of the shirt.

Can't remember what you have in your beer package but if you have Priest Socks, that's worth a bash or Bam is nice too.

Enjoy
