Title: Home Playoff Tickets Query
Post by: herthab on Sunday, May 9, 2010, 07:23:36
Not available to order online and apparently outsourced to ticket Zone for telesales. Season Ticket holders have until Tuesday to get theirs from the ticket office.

My query is: How the fuck will Ticket Zone know I'm a season ticket holder? This appears to be the only way I can get my seat for Friday, but I'm easily confused and can't see how it works.

I expect they have STFCs database

You just need to tell them their season ticket holder secret word which you will have been told when you bought your season ticket. You were told the secret word, weren't you?

Its not like we will sell out! I'm assuming Charlton will only have the bank and we will have the whole of The Arkell's?

Trying to ring through at the moment and its just busy all the time

Would outsourcing not have rectified this?

I phoned up TicketZone customer services and they said there's a mistake on the website and that tickets won't be on sale over the phone until tomorrow morning at 10, but you still ring the stfc box office number and you will then be diverted to their ticket centre!

Oh right. I was wondering why when the number wasn't busy it would just ring through to the voicemail of marie saunders

T'was a 1 hour 20 minute wait for me. Got there at 9:35ish.

In all probability there will be plenty of away tickets to go around, but its awkward ringing up from work and  I didn't want to risk leaving it until next weekend.

Took me just over two hours to queue, that was from midway in the Town End.

The queue was back to the corner of the Arkells when I left, so at least a 3 hour wait I'd think!

Title: Re: Home Playoff Tickets Query
Post by: Samdy Gray on Sunday, May 9, 2010, 12:05:42
Oh and apparently they'd been open since 8.30 but didn't bother advertising that fact. Could've saved myself a few hours of queuing if I'd known.

Have Charlton only been given the bank? They claim to have an allocation of 2,042 - I thought the bank + arkells was more than that?

Title: Re: Home Playoff Tickets Query

We have to give them some covered seating don't we? So I imagine they'll have the usual away section plus the bank.

The booking fee only applies to credit cards and debit cards so take some cash out before hand and save yourself £1.75 per home ticket. Got there about 9:20 and queued for just under an hour people are queueing for 2 hours plus now.

That's a contradiction from the website, which says only 1 away ticket per season ticket holder!  Anyone know the allocation of away tickets and the price, there's no mention on the website?  Can't get mine until tomorrow, as I didn't have a ST this season, but have one for next.

From the OS

How many tickets can be purchased?

The ticket allocation will be two per Season Ticket Holder for the home leg and one per Season Ticket Holder for the away leg.

Up to four tickets per person may be purchased once tickets go on general sale.

Of course, that's immaterial if it's not what the guys in the Ticket Office are actually sticking too.

We've got an allocation of 3,000 tickets for the away leg and they are allowing season ticket holders to buy two each - I just bought two over the phone. It is reserved seating which is a bit of a bugger.

There will be some left for general sale - there always is.

I thought it was one per season ticket, but a maximum of two per transaction.

The home tickets are available on the phone tomorrow

I got to the ground at 10:20 and got my tickets at 13:20. They are allowing 2 home leg tickets and 2 away leg tickets per season ticket.

Looking at the numbers queuing and the amount I saw buying away tickets, I can't see there being any left on general sale.

Thought I'd try leaving it til later & it seemed to work, unless I just got lucky - bought an away ticket after only being on hold for about 3 mins. He also confirmed home ticket telesales start at 10am tomorrow - I asked if I needed to produce voucher C when I collect it on Friday and he said there's no need, think I'll bring the book anyway just in case.

Usual mess at the County Ground then - website saying completely different to what is actually happening?  Can anyone confirm as a ST holder for next season, but not the existing one, I definitely have to wait until tomorrow for tickets?  I'm not worried about home, as the seats will be held until Tuesday, but it's sounding more and more like there's going to be no away tickets left?

Ta, but supposed to be going out in about 20 mins, so can't hold for ages.  Wish this had been communicated better, because I would have done this earlier on today, but thought I had to wait until tomorrow.  There's absolutely nothing on the website about the purchasing of tickets for the away leg, useless!

Well, I've tried via the phone, but been told I have to wait until tomorrow, as I'm a new season ticket holder not an existing one.  I argued the toss and questioned that other people in the same situation seemed to have got them today, but the woman wasn't budging.  That's fair enough if she's sticking to what the website says, but it doesn't seem like all the other people in the box office and on the phones are.  I did point out that according to the website, the phones weren't open until tomorrow and I only knew via this Forum and she didn't have an answer to that! Will be going to the box office at 8am tomorrow and if I can't get tickets will not be leaving quietly!

Really, really dont panic about home tickets.

Away tickets might be more difficult to come by.

I queued up for 4 hours today, and was rewarded with 2 away tickets. But I would never have bothered doing that just for the home game, and I dont know why people were bothering to do that.

There was still a 4 hour queue when I left after a pint in the County about half an hour ago.

Just the ticket office. 4 booths serving.

I remmember the Parkin and Mooney season and this is much worse. Probably because weve got double the amount of season ticket holders that we had back then.

But Im not moaning, because I dont want the club using Ticketmaster (or any other ticketing firm). They would take a massive amount of cash away from the club, and in any case, they arent any good either. Queing up is at least fair. Have to say its a bit dissapointing it was 4 times quicker to ring up than to actually queue though, especially as there was 1 booth free.

I still think away tickets will be on sale until wednesday morning. They are reserved seating which is going to be a fucking pain in the arse, with only 2 tickets each.

I do think Swindon fans get a massive panic on about Play Off tickets.

We were in with a great shout of automatic promotion and there should have been massive queues for the Wycombe game, but the enthusiasm wasnt there.

As soon as you mention Wembley Swindon fans just go and join the nearest queue.

the difficulty is, when season ticket holders want to go in there own seat you can't just print 12,000 tickets and then search through them to find a ticket - it would be a massive pain in the arse!

I agree today wasn't ideal however i'm not sure what the ideal solution would be?

The problem is arriba, loads of people have many STs, and this is what seems to cause the problem. I had a couple in front of me, who took about 10 minutes fucking about with seating and paying separately and what not (i was actually in, served and out again in less than a minute - i was out before them). Oh, and FUCKING CUNTS, moving into the queue in front of you, because someone they know is there.

Joined queue at 1-30, got served at 5 pm!  All pretty good natured, asked how long they were staying open and the guy said as long as there were people queuing, about 7-30 I reckon.  As Whits said there is not much else that could be done, although they only had four windows open with five hatches actually there, but apparently the necessary computers were not there, so they could only open four.  Re the remarks about queuing etc., had to be today for me, working away for the rest of the week and wasn't going to risk booking by phone and collecting the tickets on FRiday evening.

Oh and I also got 2 away tickets with 1 season ticket

that was you then - yes I noticed a couple of people went away and came back again with no difference to their place in the queue.

Pretty sure I saw large piles of away leg tickets in there - cos they are blue and stand out and I know at least a few people who are waiting to see the result of the first leg before deciding.  They may be too late by then of course.

Still tis all done now.  Adje, you are most welcome.

So I assume the worry about the away leg selling out today was unfounded? There are still tickets left? I've bought a season ticket for next year so wrote today off (although booked my coach travel)

I'll be down there at 8am tommorow, but hoping there isn't a huge queue like today as I start work at 9!

If it's anything like today (and also with the remaining Millwall tickets earlier this week) they may well be open as early as 7.30.

If I was betting on it, I would say the away tickets will go to general sale on wednesday.

Season ticket holders uptake is usually not as fast as you would think.

Dont underestimate that a lot of those people queing today were doing that just for home tickets (especially the old biddies).

I got there at 9:50 and got my tickets at 11:35. As others have said, it wasn't the ticket office being inefficient, it was the old farts buying tickets for the home leg, with their stupid questions and demands. It took me 4 minutes to buy 2 home tickets and 1 away ticket. One bloke took nearly 15 minutes to get his!

I got mine yesterday, queued for 3 hours, from about 2.30pm till 5.30pm, When i joined the queue I was told it was around 3 hours from this point, but decided to wait, as I sure i'd be queuing whenever I went and had more time available on Sunday afternoon, than lunchtime or evenings.

When i got served they had 5 kiosks open 4 norrmal & 1 for cash.
I think it was slow because most people wanting their season tickets and extras for friends, who they wanted to sit by, so everyone was trying to move and find the best available seats, not just where there tickets were.

Didn't want to phone, cos only got to queue to pick up tickets later or hope the post turns up, rather have it my hand.

Not sure what more the club can do as selling nearly 15000 tickets in  5/6 days is always gonna lead to queues, the club have only the ticketing system on a number of pc's.  Just aswell they increased this from last season though.

The way i understand it is the away number is the usual ticket office number (as we're selling them directly) whereas the number for the home tickets is the ticketzone number that Fowey said.

Think the usual ticket office number couldn't cope earlier as both lots were supposed to be the same number for some reason. Should be sorted now but may take a little while to settle down i suppose.

I just went down there about 45 minutes ago and the queue was fucking horrendous.
I'd hazard a guess at 150-200 people queueing, so I had to give up as I had to go back to work.

I was at the end of the TE stand (in line with the front of the Arkells) and I was told 2 1/2 hours.

I selected option 1 and then it rang straight through to an operator and took my season ticket number,  he confirmed my details (address, seat number etc) took my card numbers and said I'll have the ticket tomorrow. He also said he could deal with away ticket sales also.

I've spoken to 3 different people there and all say i need to ring the 0871 number and they can't do away ones, so not sure what's going on.

Why should we give them extra though if they could not fill their allocation earlier in the season, may as well sell them to home supporters and hopefully create a good home atmosphere

purchased my season ticket online yesterday but cannot buy anymore home tickets yet as only have an order number and no confirmation of a seat which is rather annoying.

managed to use some relatives tickets to get my home sorted need an extra for a mate. y on earth did they not put away tickets on the same home ticket line! i think we wud all have been happy to pay the extra booking fee just to get it sorted.

not back in swindon until thursday so have to rely on this phone number that is non stop engaged....cant see myself going

The queue was still going back as far as Town End at 2pm.  A lady came round with a tel number to call if you were getting home tickets as a season ticket holder but they won't allocate away tickets.

I left my mate queueing as he'd finished work and i had to go back to get our away tickets.  The home tickets i got on
Tel Number: 01271 335716 will be post out to me today so said i should get by wednesday.

Mate is still queuing at 15:15 for away tickets as well

Marie and others from the club were out handing out the 01271 number earlier but it's quite apparent if you want away tickets you have to get them from the club.

If you need to get tickets for out of towners get their details and they'll look them up and you should be ok to get a ticket on their behalf*

*that was the case 45 minutes ago, hopefully the system won't change.

I remember this chaos for the Brighton play off so I've had the auto cup ticket since then so saves the hassle most of the time for home tickets. Tried a few times to get through today for away tickets and no joy. Does seem not right to say 2 tickets per season ticket for the away game. Pretty sure for Fulham it was one for one per Season ticket as that sounds a bit fairer to dish them out.

I would be suprised we would sell 3000 tickets for a Monday night away game even given the magnitude of the game. Trains late back look a bit of a mare unless they lay on extra trains especially if we go to pens heaven forbid. If the 1st leg doesn't go to plan there will be plenty to go spare.

No worries Eeyore - I wasn't being serious.

Hope you had success.

Nope, did not.  I got Marie the Mings answerphone a few times, rang out, engaged and so on.  Try tomorrow, then send an old man down to the club (it may not be good for his health) to queue up, finally, if any left on Wednesday, a mate will be there (driving up from Surrey).

No because I dont think the club could have sold them much quicker given the resources. And the fact that people are taking ages to buy tickets at the ground.

I think we reached about half way on both last night.

The tickets haven't gone on general sale yet. The last few days it was for season ticket holders only.

I wouldn't like to say what the queues would be from tomorrow.

Just less than 5,000 for the home match. But it is Season ticket holders only first which is about 4,800 in number so I guess we're on track for a sell out. Let's wait and see what the numbers are by COB Thursday before making any knee jerk responses.

#

Agreed. Given the fact we have 5,000 or so season ticket holders I would imagine another 2,000 will go today with Brentford stub holders etc and the rest of the season ticket holders. If ST holders dont get their seats today they lose them to general sale. So out of 5,000 whatever season ticket holders it would suggest most have taken their seats by the close of play today. Tomorrow general sale will see the queues go around to the back of the Arkells I would think.

Ringing Ticket Zone would almost certainly be faster then, if you can pay by card. 01271 335716

Away tickets are a nightmare by phone, although I do appear to have got past the "press one" woman now into another queue. 10 minutes and counting.

If you any one on here not a season ticket there will be two good seats going Wensday in the
Arkells Stand Block A3 Row K seats 0105 & 0106 at the half-way line 3 row back behind D-Box.
If you short you will need to sit in 0106.

Home tickets are easy to get hold off - just ring ticket zone, saves queuing for hours.  I tried for 4 hours to get through for away tickets without success so queued up last night.  Only took an hour and 15.
I managed to get 4 away by simply giving them the names, address, postcode and seat numbers of my mates season tickets.  They looked them up on the system - job done.

If they had outsourced the away tickets as well as the home there wouldn't be a problem as ticket zone have 40 operators you can get though straight away.  I don't know of anyone that has phoned the away line and managed to buy tickets over the phone?

Pretty crap really - if your going to sell them over the phone as least make sure you have enough people to answer the dam phones!  God knows how much I spent being on hold yesterday!

Ticket update: Play-offs
Posted on: Tue 11 May 2010

Ticket Update: 2.55 pm today

Friday 14th May 2010 (Charlton Athletic, H, 7.45pm KO)

6,800 home tickets sold / Away allocation sold-out

Monday 17th May 2010 (Charlton Athletic, A, 7.45pm KO)

11,000 home tickets sold / 1,800 sold for away

I came past at 5.15pm and there was no queue at all.  Will be interesting to see how much the figures change after they go on general sale tomorrow?  At this rate, they'll end up being a load of Charlton fans mixed in with us.

I'm surprised more away tickets haven't been sold, but then it seems like everyone who wants them has had trouble getting through.

On the other hand, a lot of season ticket holders aren't going and up until now they're the only ones who could get them.  I sit within a group of 4, one of them can't finish work early enough, one of them 'can't be bothered with the travelling to London on a Monday night when it's on live!' and one of them can't afford it.  I'm therefore not going either because I don't want to travel and sit on my own like a billy no mates.  Even my brother who lives 25 mins away from the Valley has let me down as he thinks that he's a bad luck charm when they're away from home.  On the basis that Millwall was the 7th time he's seen them away this season and they've failed to win any of them, I tend to agree slightly!
Still pissed off I'm not going though!

Probably over 7000 by close of play, which means 2300+ sold per day.  We'd pretty much sell out by COP Thursday at that rate, especially given many would have missed the Sunday details and then the stories of queues will have put a few off rushing.  I went down at 6.30pm tonight to get 2 and walked straight up to the window.

i'm tempted to go to the cg tomorrow after college after having had no success on the phone trying to get an away ticket, problem is it won't be until about 1 do you think there'll be massive queues as it's the first day on general sale? or do you think most people after home tickets will ring up? what would be even better is if there was a kind soul who's going to queue who would buy one for me and then i'll pay them back... :)  :D

The old man we sent down did his job and is still alive.  I'm going to both, yay!  Good luck to all still chasing.

Nice one. Just a random old man? A kind act carried out by him.

I hope tomorrow isn't too unbearable for people. Can't believe how lucky I got - not even a 5 minute wait (combined) for my 2 phone-calls.

If we do get to wembley, I would expect us to take 25 to 30k. The club will have just over a week to sell those tickets...they will really need to get their a's into g for that one...going to ticket zone was a good start, I found them to be very efficient and got through in straight away (although that was yesterday afternoon).

I'd expect 33k, which is around the mark we took the last 2 times.

The logistics of selling are a lot easier because you can, as arriba wanted for the home game, just get the printed tickets in batches and sell them one at a time.  You open up the windows where matchday sales happen and each window relates to a price band/lot of blocks in Wembley.  Then you queue for roughly where you want to go.  Much much easier from the clubs point of view than having to designate a specific seat to people, hold on to season ticket seats etc.  The harder part is the volume.

You'll probably get a couple days for season ticket holders, then maybe stub holders for the play off games and finally absolute mayhem when on general sale.

Title: Re: Home Playoff Tickets Query
Post by: jimmy_onions on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 10:17:16
allowing 6-8 tickets  per person would help to get through the volume quicker. I really dont think there will be anyone who 'misses' out.

You mention we took 33k on previous occasions, my view is there was more interest generally in the club back then, will be interesting to see if its still there.

From the OS -

Ticket update: Play-offs
Posted on: Wed 12 May 2010

Ticket latest: Updated 11.14am, Wednesday 12th May 2010

Friday 14th May 2010 (Charlton Athletic, H, 7.45pm KO)

8,856 home tickets sold / Away allocation of 2,200 sold-out

Monday 17th May 2010 (Charlton Athletic, A, 7.45pm KO)

13,000 home tickets sold / 2,400 sold for away (away allocation 3,200)

So, only around 3500 home tickets left, so these should sell out tomorrow.

That's what they did in '93. They opened turnstiles all around the ground, and you went to the turnstile for that price of ticket you wanted. And you had to pay by cash only.

I just found this from a couple of seasons ago:

http://www.football-league.co.uk/latestnews/20080502/play-off-final-prices_2245681_1529384

Tickets were from £30 to £84, so I should imagine it would now be a bit more as this was two years ago.

The top seats in '93 were £80, so they haven't gone up much.

But they are still rip-off prices for League 1 football....Wembley or not.

That's expensive, especially as the £30 tickets were right at the top (i hate heights so couldn't go that high). So i'd have got £50 tickets, so prob £55 or £60 now as that's two years ago.

Won't stop me going if we get there, luckily i get paid next week

Last year, Millwall got 37,500 seats allocated.  £30 tickets were top tier at the back, £40 is top tier at the front, £50 behind the goal lower tier, £60 lower tier on the sides, £80 club wembley seats (2nd tier).  Wembley enforce a strict distribution policy so you can only select price range, no picking of seats, they are to be dished out in sequential order (or something along those lines).

Can't see it being very different to that, just got to hope it a financial issue I need to worry about!

Neither would I.  It is shame that common man is being forced to pay for poor planning on the FA's part which has resulted in a stadium however nice being built at a cost far in excess of what could have been considered reasonable.  I would imagine potential gate reciepts would go towards the cost of one of the pitch relayments!

90,000 with 71,200 general admission seats.  For the play offs I think some of the middle tier seats are freed up and I would imagine a few corporate deals can be had for one offs like this that aren't on the radar for 10,000 Club Wembley gang.
