I know a bloke who will torch a car for you, but I don't think he's ready for a stadium just yet!

The old Doncaster chairman torched Belle Vue...they fell to the Conference with a record low points and 113 goals conceded just missed relegation to the Unibond league and are now above us and have humiliated 2 Prem teams this season.

Yet the ground has not improved.

If they build it in Chippenham I'll fucking torch it.

Has to be closer than that, out of boundaries I can live with.

I agree with the near county ground residents, same as the people who live near Heathrow, don't live near an airport then!!

And as an Ashbrake resident, I fully support the motion to flattened Abbey Meads and build a new stadium there, that'd be class!!

Does that make me an IMBY??

I know we've got a little bit of land next to our house but it's not quite big enough to build a ground.  Shame I'd prefer a new ground than a KFC or McD's.

Not sure if my Mrs would join my IMBY brigade.

After walking to football at the CG for more than 50 years, a different venue would not be STFC for me.

Maybe STFC should have stayed at the Croft, I've often sat up the top of the slope there and tried to imagine what it might have looked like if a ground had been built there.

Interesting thought Reg. The ground would have cost peanuts in 1884, before the amalgamation of Old and New Town. Imagine Swindon Town footballers changing in the Fountain Inn,and  fans buying tickets in a pigeonhole in the Royal Oak Inn, then standing on wooden boards to watch! Their first year in the Southern League was played there apparently.
Presumably enough space was available then for a stadium, before the houses (where I live) were built in the 1920's, and the Sports Centre.
Pity the Goddard family were not football fans!
