My fee would've been a lot less than the £22k fine.

But would it have been less than the 22K fine + whatever they haven't paid into the pension pots?

Actually, do they have to pay that retrospectively?

Yes, they had to backdate contributions and according to that report it's all up-to-date.

If this is as common-place as some suggest it is curious that we're the only football club being called out about it on the TPR's Twitter account.

More to come? Maybe others are a lot worse and haven't settled up yet :-)

Auto enrolment is a massive pain in the ass for small businesses but you get a years notice to get everything in place before your staging date (when you have to start enroling staff into the pension).

There's no excuse really for not having something in place even if its just the basic government NEST pension.

Someone will get a tongue lashing for messing that up. Dont agree is's embarrassing, that would have been the case if we hadnt paid the fines and contributions, all sorted once someone realised we'd screwed up.

It's hardly massive news or a massive problem is it? I'd imagine a fair number of mid-size business found themselves in similar situations (in fact my company still hasn't put enrolment in place!).

Still, gives the haters more ammo I guess....

People seem to be a bit relaxed about the club pissing £22k up the wall. That's a hell of a lot of money, with all the warnings having been ignored. Rap on the knuckles? I'd have the person responsible off the premises before the end of the working day.

Club Statement: Pensions Regulator Fine

IT is unfortunate that the club has been fined by the Pensions Regulator.

The fine related to the period when the ownership of the club was being contested by the former Chairman and is yet another painful example of the severe adverse consequences that the uncertainty and instability caused in regularising the business affairs of the club.

The club is completely up to date and compliant with its pension obligations and contributions.

Be careful you will be off to Wolves at the end of the season if you sign on, although on the bright side you will have suddenly become the best accountant in the world in the eyes of our fans!

It's a buzzword for these sort of things. We'll probably see 'joke' and 'laughing stock' before long too.

That's 58 side stand ST renewals spunked up the wall, I would call that a big deal.
