Have we just seen Stephens in his best position?

I think the higher the level of football there is less need for Reg's 'brick shithouse' defender.

All in all it bodes well for January when we lose Yas and Mass for the month

Looks like we are looking to extend it. Would be a youth loan as well which is a bonus.

He can play on Saturday though, which is good. The kid himself really wants to stay which helps. Wonder if Brad Smith would get into the squad now...

Not for me. Brad Smith was better going forward but young Harry is a far better defender.

Brad had a lot of potential with his amount of pace though. His crossing left something to be desired, but I'd rather have Brad as a 2nd option over Bell.

Bell looked so good at Orient and dropped off to being a bit average.

It'll be interesting to see whether it was a case of 'too soon' for brad and bell, or whether they never get anywhere.

In fact can anyone name some young 'fails' we have had on loan that went on to be a relative star?

Chris Martin was 23 when PdC signed him.

Mason was good for us, but not premier league starter good. Nouble is also still unaccountably a pro footballer.

I trust Brad Smith will go onto good things. Having the training, experience and support of the Socceroos. Plus he has EPL minutes under his belt from last year.

Andy Lonergan would probably count his loan spell as a low point in his career.

I seem to remember reading an article a while back, before we got him, about how Toffolo was one of the 'names to watch' in the Norwich setup. I hope we can keep him for the rest of the season.

I do hope, however, that we get someone in permanently who's up to snuff next year. Left back has been a bit of a  carousel of players this season.
