We released him from his contract.

It was Tijane Fired Reis

Whatever happened to Dany N'Guessan...'s penalty that wasn't given?

We are clearly as good as each other last seasons results:

P4 W1 L1 D2 (lost one of the Ds on pens).

I'm looking forward to it. Their fans seem to be the most arrogant and cocky fans I've ever had the displeasure of seeing on the internet. At least City are top of the league so they have something to be cocky about. Posh last year were so up themselves without having much to show for it except for a free tin of paint.

In all seriousness....the key thing for the weekend is that Cooper is going to have to make some sort of call, over Mass and Kas.  Do they come back in; does Stephens stay in midfield; does Branco carry on; now that Tomlin has gone, who do we target to get sent off?  :)

N'Guessan now at Port Vale....scored a couple in the cup t'other week. Did OK for a while here, but typical of teh French players we've had, a bit unreliable. Personally I wouldn't bother signing more.

I believe Posh's one creative player, Maddison is injured. Their fans are not happy at the moment. They are ripe for the taking at the moment, good time to play them.

I'd say bench them both if they both feel up to it. But Stephens in the middle seemed to work well. Maybe everyone in the City game should be rewarded with another start. Mainly Gladwin cause he had a belter.

It's a good situation to be in. Considering one second we can be under-staffed as it were, then contemplating the idea of Yas & Mass not getting in the squad.

We need to get everyone as much game time as possible because when Jan roles around they're definitely gone for a few weeks for the Asia cup, but also because one of them could be gone forever in Jan too...

Wes
Thompson, Branco, Turnbull
Byrne, Louis, Stephens, Gladwin, Toffolo
Obika, Smith

With the internationals and Willo coming off the bench.

Yeah, I saw that. Happy for him. I was more just being sour grapes about the pen that never was... :P

:hmmm: so not quite finished then.   Kind of highlights, how far we're falling behind, when a club with gates a little over 5,000, can manage a decent basic upgrade to a basically condemned stand.

Oh right, so that's likely to give them a bit of a lift, you'd have thought, few extra in out of curiosity etc.

Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of their ST holders move their seats into the new stand so that end should be near full.

Just need to get a few more town away fans with flags waving. I took my newly bought flag and cable tied it onto a stick (doesn't look as shit as that sounded) so it's not just tied to a fence. Hopefully made Arkell's look better when we scored, when the entire ground burst into song and when the teams came out.

Yeah, and Reis wasn't wearing a shirt with some ladies on it. Go Tijane.

My post may be getting missed thanks to the need for page 2. But I'd be interested to hear about people's thoughts on waving STFC flags. I was the one doing it in Arkell's so I couldn't really see how it looked or if it added to the atmosphere.

But waving it felt like something different and added that little something extra. It's not as annoying as a drum, so it can't be that bad. It just felt like it made more of a point than a flag tied to a fence.

Thoughts?

If Gladwin can, in the words of Repetitive Phil, move the ball quicker, he'll be a really good player. At the moment he seems to want an extra touch, and occasionally strolls through the match when we could do with picking up the pace. He's less than 2 years from playing for Marlow, so I'm hopeful is will come.

I meant to post this after Saturday but forgot and this has reminded me.

Is Gladwin lazy? Or is it just the way he appears? He always seems to do things much slower than the rest of our team and even when he gets the ball with space in front of him, never seems to sprint. The whole team on Saturday must have come off the pitch shattered, apart from Gladwin, who looked like he could probably wear his kit again on Saturday without the need to wash it.

Am I being unfair? Is he going to be the new Le Tissier?

Post by: FormerlyPlymRed on Monday, November 17, 2014, 18:12:31
From what I have seen I would say its unfair, I think its just how he appears. He has been shit in a couple of games but i never thought he didnt put a shift in. Definitely a good player on there.

Fwiw, i would leave the same starting 11 as we had on saturday, give mass and kasim a break as we don't want to over do them with them having done internationals

Title: Re: Whatever happened to Tijane Reis..... early Posh pre-match thoughts.
Post by: Frigby Daser on Monday, November 17, 2014, 18:22:44
I didn't have him down as lazy. From time to time, I thought he could have switched play quicker (when in the middle) or hit a cross first time, rather than taking a touch or two which gave their centre backs the time to shape up. But all in all, he looks like he is getting better and well worth his place. I'd play him on Saturday.

I also wondered what the story is with Reeves. We've hardly seen him of late. Perhaps he's been told he can play as and when he agrees a longer contract, but until then, he's out of the shop window.

It's a tricky one for Cooper....and I suppose a lot will depend on how knackered they both are on return.

Think it's possible, insofar as Jack doesn't seem to like muck and nettles stuff that centre halves need to do... I suppose in the modern game there is less need for the brick shithouse stopper, but there's definitely a dearth of centre halves, who can mix up the dark arts of defending and being able to play the ball.

This. I so much want him to come good as he obviously has real ability on the ball but at the moment seems to lack the necessary incisiveness required sometimes.

I think the higher the level of football there is less need for Reg's 'brick shithouse' defender.

All in all it bodes well for January when we lose Yas and Mass for the month

Looks like we are looking to extend it. Would be a youth loan as well which is a bonus.

He can play on Saturday though, which is good. The kid himself really wants to stay which helps. Wonder if Brad Smith would get into the squad now...

Not for me. Brad Smith was better going forward but young Harry is a far better defender.

Brad had a lot of potential with his amount of pace though. His crossing left something to be desired, but I'd rather have Brad as a 2nd option over Bell.

Bell looked so good at Orient and dropped off to being a bit average.

It'll be interesting to see whether it was a case of 'too soon' for brad and bell, or whether they never get anywhere.

In fact can anyone name some young 'fails' we have had on loan that went on to be a relative star?

Mason was good for us, but not premier league starter good. Nouble is also still unaccountably a pro footballer.

I trust Brad Smith will go onto good things. Having the training, experience and support of the Socceroos. Plus he has EPL minutes under his belt from last year.

I seem to remember reading an article a while back, before we got him, about how Toffolo was one of the 'names to watch' in the Norwich setup. I hope we can keep him for the rest of the season.

I do hope, however, that we get someone in permanently who's up to snuff next year. Left back has been a bit of a  carousel of players this season.

Don't think I've ever seen a 'pretty average really', or a 'could do OK with a bit of luck'

Obika was a bit of that. "He's been moving around a lot not being able to get settled. Just needs somewhere to settle in."
