1. Self preservation - don't want to confront someone who has a baseball bat and is fine kicking the shit out of police.
That would cross my mind too if I was there.

Hmmm this will end well! Loads of my Rovers and shitty mates sharing this on Facebook. That is a tinder box on almost every possible level, probably the EDL organising it I would imagine.

Well, we know where we're goin' But we don't know where we've been And we know what we're knowin' But we can't say what we've seen And we're not little children And we know what we want And the future is certain Give us time to work it out

Just watched that a few times. Really don't get why the police restrain/cuff the two or three guys who are seemingly being penned into a corner by a large amount of tanked up Coventry fans. Yet none of them are being restrained/cuffed? Seemed like those that were being searched, restrained, cuffed etc weren't responding aggressively yet the group of people were given licence to keep on doing what they were doing...responding aggressively without any regard for the presence of the cops. It's also a longer clip. A lot of the times it's 10 or 20secs where you can't always get context. This was long enough to glean plenty of that. Interesting

Who knows Bambi? I'm sure those in attendance would have better knowledge.

Oh without a doubt, although there is a lot of evidence from psychologists and suchlike that very often, us humans do tend to remember things differently to how they actually occurred. There have been numerous studies where a faux robbery or mugging occurs. They secretly film it all and then get all the witnesses back and question them. What is often revealing is that when there are apparent holes in the memory, instead of people saying "I don't know" they often will fill that part in and make it up. Thinking they are being more helpful, providing an answer rather than no answer. Of course, this results in lots of similar stories but many different versions regarding key points "Was he wearing a grey jumper or a green one?", "What weapon was she brandishing?". But it also reveals it can be helpful when determining collusion. When all parties come up with the exact same set of answers and story. What might seem clever from the suspects can raise suspicion. Purely because of the "filling in bits" above, they expect to always see some muddiness. So it begs the question, would people who are present necessarily have better knowledge than someone who sees all of the footage (I'm not meaning a short clip) at hand? I imagine, that this is one of the reasons why the police do now have body cams, so any "holes" can be revealed and stitched back together.

It was because they were suspected of being armed. A knife was found close by.

When the police have a couple of people at the hands of a volatile crowd I would imagine it's best practice to remove them from that situation, given the added suspicion of a weapon then this is a non story in respect of the police response. The yoofs on the other hand getting rowdy en masse is not surprising these days, unfortunately.

Well Im fairly sure having a group of young predominately white males standing around a memorial wont make those memorials targets which they may not have been in the first place. Im sure it will all be perfectly sensible. Ive already seen a declaration that 'I will not stand and let morons destroy our war memorials' despite the fact that no war memorials have been destroyed as far as I can see. The trained professionals I'm sure will welcome the help of this level headed group of 'footy lads' who famously take every decision made which they do not agree with total grace and understanding.

They are at least trying to embrace inclusivity. The guy in the recruiting poster only has one leg.

So they are guarding the cenotaph from 12pm tomorrow?
I see a minor flaw in this plan.

It's DFLA, one of the successor groups. BLM have cancelled their planned protest in London on Saturday to avoid the risk of confrontation. I'm sure they'll find a few brown people to kick the shit out of anyway though.
