People using grave accents for both quotation and apostrophe marks.*

*Yep, I am aware of the programming background it can be used for.

Watching last night’s news - the crowded beach at Durdle Door.
They interview a woman who complains it’s too crowded and people aren’t “distancing properly”, while completely lacking the self awareness to realise she is doing the same thing. BBC then said she had driven for 90 (ninety) minutes to get there.
Presumably she expected exclusive use of the beach!

Why do people think it’s so witty to say ‘want to do mine next’ when you’re washing your car - without fail.

Because on the whole people are not funny, its easily avoided however by just not washing the car!

Widely reported in the printed media too. This my fellow TEF friends is what the government are up against.

British Gas

Moved out of my old house, had a right pain submitting a final, closing meter reading which ended up with them taking £300-odd and then refunding me another £300-odd with the actual amount (was about £30) taken from it. Wasn’t too happy but just relieved to get the money back. Have a final complaint letter from British Gas telling me all this and my final closing bill being £300-odd in credit

Woke up today to see they had taken £590 from my account

It was the government who changed the law to make her 90 minute drive to the beach totally lawful.

It's almost as if relying on "Good old British common sense" wasn't a very good idea in fighting a pandemic. But a very good idea if you're looking to blame the public for any subsequent flare-up. Which is exactly what is being done here. Although they are still a bunch of fuckwits, no excusing that.

Cumbria Constabulary appear to be still turning people round at the M6 junctions if they have travelled ridiculous distances, albeit they are seriously pissed off with the government for muddling the waters.

Sounds like they are applying their own version of common sense then!

Whilst I disagree with it, the law is clear though. You can now travel to outdoor open space irrespective of distance. The government amended this law because presumably they are happy for people to do exactly that yet those who do are now being criticised by the same right wing media who were giving it the “happy Monday” headlines 2 weeks ago.

This country is mental.
