Salford

Speaking of which, I noticed the other day, that they're going well in the Conference North, and may well be in the Conference next season.... hoping that we're not. Also hoping we don't get them in the cup, as bound to be on the Beeb, as battle between clubs owned by ex players.

The BBC calling a programme “R Girl” instead of “Our Girl”. What happened to the Queens English?

Next series is going to be called "R Kid".

The hugely optimistic 30mph speed limit in the area of the Oldbury viaduct repair work on the M5.
Avoid if possible.

I didn't know where oldbury was so checked and it's miles from the M5?

Sadly I drive the M5 at least twice a week. The 30mph is immaterial during the day, you couldn't break it if you tried.

It's an utterly horrific drive when I head up north, but it's still the best route despite the overhead gantries insisting you use the M42 for the M6. I did that once, turned a slow crawl 3-4 hour journey into a 5 hour journey, even using the toll.

Double checked and the stretch between J1& J2 is called the Oldbury Viaduct apparently. If the work was done without lane closures then it would take 6 years!
I travel to Shropshire regularly so at least have the option of going via Kidderminster.
But for anywhere further up north, then yeah, you are right, M5 / M6 is the best option. Long stretch of works on the M6 in Cheshire to endure as well.

I was always taught that the white circular sign with a black diagonal line across it meant, drive as fast as you can?

This is definitely in the 'don't understand' category...

I keep seeing ads on Facebook for a business that charges people money to help them to stop drinking alcohol. We're not talking alcoholics here, just people who want to stop drinking. If you're not addicted to alcohol, but you're willing to part with cash, so someone can 'help' you stop, then you must be addicted to something else. My guess is stupidity..

That's genius, so you spend the money you save on not buying alcohol on not buying alcohol.

I should be celebrating tonight the mighty Cidermen, beating Middlesex to stay in Div 1 of the County Championship, but I know seeing as how it's Middlesex getting relegated we'll be deducted a couple of points for a pitch taking spin, which will just be enough for them to stay up.

It's taken 3 weeks, but Middlesex have finally accepted their relegation after their appeal against losing a couple of points for a slow over rate quite rightly failed. OK, cross bow bolt stopped play doesn't come along too often, but bizarre things do happen in cricket.
