Mushrooms is a fair shout.
It's the texture of trifle. Wobble, wetness and sponge. Who wants to eat a wet sponge? Even if it is soaked in booze.
(I tried to rephrase this to avoid sexual innuendo but gave up, too difficult)

Its the cold custard bit I love. I kind of get where you are coming from re the sponge, but given enough custard and cream, it kind of drowns out the sponge flavour.

I can give or take mushrooms. Not a great fan, but I can eat them at a push.
I hope that helps.

Cold custard, cream and soggy sponge fingers - what's not to like?
I like custard but not custard donuts so I am in the middle of a very strange venn diagram with Samdy & Batch

To be fair I am the fussiest eater in the world and if I listed most of the foods I hate more people would dislike me than they already do.
I don't mind Marmite though. It's okay. It's exactly the sort of thing I should hate, but I just can't. I do hate unnecessary death though. That pisses me right off.

I could eat Marmite from the jar with a tea spoon. When I say could, I mean have. Also eaten the odd oxo cube.
Mushrooms are needed for steak, full English breakfasts and garlic mushrooms.
